With the recent developments to the academy and training facilities, mixed with the cash injection each season, Manchester City have a very impressive academy set up.

This was reflected when the EDS team won the European Premier League against Porto. From that squad I saw a large number of talented individuals who could really thrive off a loan spell in the Championship.

The second tier of English football can be a platform where a player can excel, and subsequently develop and mature as a footballer.

The likes of Jordan Ibe and Patrick Bamford have excelled in the Football League, and have since been recognised by the Premier League.

1) Brandon Barker

Barker has been at the City academy since the age of eight and signed a pro contract in July 2014.

At the age of 17 he has been a stalwart in the EDS squad which is the Under-21 equivalent.

Barker's game is all about pace and skill from the wing, he has a lot of confidence when running at players and is two footed meaning he is just as confident about cutting inside as he is getting to the byline.

He is also one of the EDS top scorers despite being one of the youngest as well as being a regular for England Under-18's.

There is no doubt about it, Barker has the ability to progress to the first team in a few years which is high praise due to the calibre of players.

Teams he would suit: Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic.

2) Jose Angel Pozo

Pozo was signed from Real Madrid in 2012 before signing a pro deal in July 2013.

He primarily plays as a striker but due to his ability on the ball and creative eye he is just as able to fill in behind the striker as a 10 also.

The small Spaniard is one to look out for, he is incredibly clinical in front of goal mixed with his eye for a pass, and selfless nature means that he has the complete skill set to compete at a much higher level than youth level.

He has been capped for Spain Under-17's in addition to making 3 first team appearances in the Capital One Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday scoring after 2 minutes of coming on.

He then made his Premier League debut against Everton coming on in the first half to replace Sergio Aguero, before making his first start against Leicester a week later.

Teams he would suit: Derby County, Bolton, Fulham, Brighton.

3) Seko Fofana

Currently on-loan at Fulham, Fofana moved to City from Loreint in 2013 and he is widely regarding as French football's next big thing after Paul Pogba.

The box to box midfielder models his game on Yaya Toure and many that watch him on a regular basis have certainly likened the two players.

Fofana has a lot about his game with very impressive acceleration for a player in a central midfield position, mixed with an eye for goal and a long shot to match he provides a new dimension from midfield.

In addition to that, Fofana is comfortable with the ball at his feet and tends to protect possession well by playing concise passes, he also works very hard for the team and his team mates. A French Under-18 international Fofana could offer a lot to the first team in the near future.

Teams he would suit: Wolves, Leeds, Reading, Fulham, Bolton, Blackburn, Birmingham.

4) Matthias Bossaerts

Signed from the same academy as City captain Vincent Kompany, Bossaerts is one of the best young central defenders around.

Belgium born but fluent in Flemish, French and English he won't have a problem with communication at the back.

A big, strong central defender with a superb sense of positioning and understanding of the game, Bossaerts is rarely found wanting at the back, very similar in fact to his compatriot Kompany.

In addition to his positional awareness, he is very comfortable with the ball at his feet and relishes the opportunity to play out from the back with composure and vision far exceeding his age.

Teams he would suit: Derby, Huddersfield, Fulham, Brentford.

5) Jack Byrne

An Irish Under-17,19 and 21 international Jack Byrne is a very well rounded footballer.

After making the difficult decision to leave his family and home in Ireland at a very young age to follow his dream to play football it seems to be paying off.

Byrne originally played as a central midfielder, but EDS manager Patrick Viera has moved him further up up the field this season into a creative number 10 role and he has responded brilliantly.

Tenacity mixed with superb skill and vision best describes the Irishman who has been the game changer a number of times this campaign for the EDS.

He is tenacious in winning back possession which is rare for a number 10 with Byrne the exception, also skillful in his execution of deft passes, his ability to turn at speed and finish from distance as well as in close.

Finally, his vision to spot the defence splitting passes and set his team mates up.

Teams he would suit: Derby, Birmingham, Brighton, Fulham, Bolton, Brentford.
