Derby County parted company with Paul Clement on Monday after a just seven months in charge at the iPro Stadium.

Derby are fifth in the Championship, and with just 16 games to go this season they are just six points behind leaders Middlesbrough.

The decision to end Paul Clement's reign at Derby came to many as a surprise with the Rams so well placed in the league.

They have had a run of recent poor results without picking up a win in the last six games.

There will no doubt be lots of applicants for the vacant manager's position as it is an incredibly attractive job, with the club having the infrastructure of a top-flight club.

We here at Football League world have drawn up a list of FIVE managers Derby should consider appointing........

David Moyes

Former Real Sociedad and Manchester United boss is looking to get back into the managerial hot seat.

Derby want a man that can build a team for a sustained period of success, and Moyes would be perfect for that role.

In his previous jobs, Moyes was not afforded the luxury of time, but is a proven quality manager - all you have to do is look at the squad he put together at Everton on a limited budget.

Derby County would be stupid not to consider a move for the former Manchester United manager.

Dougie Freedman

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has been quietly putting together a very good squad full of youth, and is playing some superb football.

They have put themselves in a very good position for mounting a challenge on the play-offs.

Freedman has spent very little at Forest yet gets the very best out of his team, which is probably what will attract attention from other clubs, as Forest continue to impress in the Championship.

Though, a move to bitter rivals Derby County would undoubtedly cause major controversy.

Nigel Pearson

Former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson would be a good for the Rams.

He has plenty of experience at getting teams out of the Championship, whilst also producing a good style of football.

Pearson also managed to keep Leicester City in the top-flight despite the odds being stacked against him.

The former Foxes boss comes with some baggage with his abrasive nature, but for all that baggage comes a proven manager who knows the league inside out.

Phil Brown

Southend manager Phil Brown has knowledge and experience of every division in English football.

Every team he has managed, he has got them playing good attacking football - currently in charge of League One side Southend, Brown got them promoted from League Two playing some superb football..

Now they are seventh in League One with one of the smallest budgets in the division, and have a real chance of attaining promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

Brown has previously managed Hull City in the Championship, ultimately leading them to promotion to the Premier League.

Tim Sherwood

Former Tottenham and Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood could be another good move for the Rams.

Tim was not given adequate time at Villa nor enough say in the players being brought into the club.

He did however save them from relegation the season before and is tactically very astute.

Sherwood likes the game played a certain way and Derby will be wanting attacking, entertaining football which Sherwood would provide.

Derby fans have your say.... Would you like any of these managers to take over at Derby? Do you have another candidate in mind? Leave your thought in the box below!
