Cardiff have been going about their work quietly this season under manager Russell Slade, who had his critics at the start of the season but they have been answered now.

The fans are slowly starting to filter back at Cardiff as they currently sit in seventh, joint on points with Sheffield Wednesday who are in sixth place.

This is despite an exodus of their strikers in the January transfer window, like Tony Watt leaving they have been very industrious in the midfield with a lot of goals coming from here with Pilkington, Noone and Whittingham being the main contributors.

What has been most impressive about Cardiff this season is their backline which is one of the best in the division.

They have picked up good results recently with a thumping 4-1 win over fellow promotion contenders Brighton the highlight, showing they are genuine contenders.

Lex Immers signed from Feyenoord and could be the goalscorer they need for the run in, but the squad is still lacking a certain depth so here are FIVE players Cardiff could sign in the remainder of the emergency loan window, to help bolster their promotion chances.......

Joao Carlos Teixeira

The Portuguese midfielder is one of Liverpool's best young players and there is a deal to send him to Fiorentina in the summer.

But for now, some first team football would be welcome, and after showing how good he was at this level when playing for Brighton last season, he would be a welcome addition for Cardiff.

He can play on the wing or behind the striker and is known for his excellent pace and technical ability, and can trouble any defence, may be needed after Cardiff sold a lot of their attacking players in the recent transfer window.

Dwight Gayle

Would be a very audacious move by Cardiff but certainly a statement of intent, as it would add some real firepower to the Cardiff frontline, which is needed to take the strain off their midfield.

He has struggled to hold down a first team place at Selhurst Park and is currently behind Adebayor and Wickham in the pecking order.

Gayle was on the brink of a big money move to Bristol City but he turned it down but a play-off push may entice him.

Rolando Aarons

The Newcastle winger is a promising prospect and at the age of 20 has racked up 11 appearances for the Newcastle first team, and scored his first senior goal for the club in a 2-0 away win over Manchester City in the cup.

He is a regular in the England U20 side and has scored two goals in five appearances, and is blessed with attributes that would make him a very effective winger at this level.

He possesses a lot of pace and technical ability helping him skin defenders and dropping down a level to the Championship would make him one of the division's most dangerous strikers.

Victor Anichebe

The ailing West Brom striker doesn't appear to have a future at West Brom, and the wiley veteran will most likely seek a move away in the summer.

The goals to games ratio he has at both Everton and West Brom are poor and he would perhaps welcome a suit down.

He is not blessed with pace but is a good finisher and his large frame will allow him to bully defenders in the Championship.

As I have said Cardiff need strikers due to their over reliance on there midfield for goals, so Anichebe who West Brom are keen to offload would be a good move.

Joey O'Brien

The West Ham defender was a regular for them for a number of seasons, including the one they spent in the Championship.

But now West Ham are again an established Premier League club and under Slaven Bilic they are pushing for European football.

The defence has been a solid rock but O'Brien is just a back up now with Michail Antonio preferred at right-back.

But his wealth of experience will make him a good addition to Cardiff whose defence has become a bit leaky lately.
