Sheffield Wednesday are nearing the playoffs, though for a squad packed to the rafters with top talent, it's become far nervier than it should be.

Carlos Carvalhal has done a fantastic job at Hillsborough and could still well steer them to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Though he does boast a certain amount of quality in his side, additions will clearly be required no matter what division the Owls find themselves playing in next season.

With wealthy backers, it's not hard to imagine the club will be on the lookout for top talent. Though scouting networks these days are wonderfully complex, they needn't look far.

Not far from their Sheffield HQ lie a Leeds United side packed to the rafters with talent that would be well suited to the Owls' cause.

While it will no doubt be hard to prize of the Whites away, the Yorkshire giants could well represent a viable avenue for Sheffield Wednesday's transfer plans this summer.

Wednesday could certainly use both cover and competition in the left-back berth.

The 22-year old is an excellent option flying up and down the flanks, mixing sound defensive duty with the sort of attacking enterprise expected of modern day full-backs.

Lewis Cook

Granted, it's unlikely that Lewis Cook would move to Hillsborough. Particularly if they remain in the Championship.

However, a player of his quality would certainly fit right in at pretty much any side.

Combative and tireless without the ball, the teenager boasts the kind of quality to tear teams apart when paired next to a more defensive option.

Chris Wood

Gary Hooper can be clinical at this level, though the club reportedly tried their best to land Jordan Rhodes prior to his move to Middlesbrough.

That would suggest they're after a man who can lead the line and bring others into play, as well as score goals obviously.

Chris Wood, when in full form, would be an excellent addition. His first season with Leeds has been derailed by injury, though he's still managed a decent 11 goals despite two months out.

Alex Mowatt

Like the aforementioned Cook, Alex Mowatt has become a first-team star having progressed through the youth ranks.

Though he's not as all-action as the 18-year old, Mowatt is as dangerous in the final third and can link together defence and attack with his visions and creativity.

It's not as if Wednesday are overly lacking in that department, though a player like the 22-year old would certainly fit right in.

Marco Silvestri

Kieran Westwood is a decent enough 'keeper, though the Republic of Ireland international could use some better cover and competition in equal measure.

Marco Silvestri does not always cover himself in glory, though there has been a marked improvement in the Italian recently.

To truly strengthen their options between the sticks, a move for the Whites custodian would certainly be well advised.
