There is never a dull moment at Leeds United these days, certainly not with controversial Italian Massimo Cellino calling the shots.

Steve Evans was placed in charge of the Whites back in October to replace the sacked Uwe Rosler, with the former Rotherham United boss now starting to see positive shoots of recovery after a tricky start.

How much longer Evans will last as manager will always be open to discussion and you certainly wouldn’t bet on it being any length of time, given the trigger happy nature of the club’s owner.

Leeds are rooted firmly in mid-table and next season the hierarchy will no doubt demand a promotion push, otherwise Evans will no doubt be sent packing!

The Whites are a fallen giant of English football and their remarkable supporters are deserving of a club in the higher echelons of football’s pyramid.

With a huge squad currently at Evans’ disposal, it is likely some will be moved along in the summer, and Football League World’s Lee Clarke took a look at FIVE players who might depart Elland Road in the near future........

The former Leicester City striker has struggled to stay fit during his maiden season with the Whites, and his form has been patchy.

He missed three golden opportunities in the 1-0 defeat over Burnley last weekend and such gilt-edged misses are not doing him any favours.

Leeds fans are growing disgruntled with the target man, which is no surprise considering the amount which the club parted with to take him to Elland Road in the first place.

The 24-year-old is still a youngster really but he needs to improve his form in front of goal, otherwise another club could be added to his already long list of employers.

Giuseppe Bellusci

The Italian defender is prone to the odd error and with Leeds likely to be targeting promotion next season, a more trustworthy central defender could be required instead.

A series of high profile errors around Christmas time, one in particular against Nottingham Forest, threatened his place in the team at one point, although Evans has also stuck by him on occasions this season.

The 26-year-old has attracted interest from his native Italy in recent months and should a club reignite their interest a move could be on the cards during the next transfer window.

Casper Sloth

The 24-year-old joined Leeds United in August 2014 from Danish side AGF, with a reputation of being a bright prospect.

A series of injuries since his arrival in West Yorkshire have dictated that he has only featured 13 times for the Whites making him a rather big flop.

Sloth boasts eight caps for the Danish national team having made his debut in 2012, but he just can’t seem to get his Leeds United career up and running.

A move away from the Sky Bet Championship club this summer would be the best move for all parties, and it now looks incredibly unlikely that he will still be a Leeds player come August.

Scott Wootton

Wherever boss Evans has chosen to utilise versatile defender Scott Wooton this season he has been equally woeful.

An average right-back and even worse in the centre of defence is a pretty accurate assessment of the ex-Manchester United trainee’s form this season.

He has come in for criticism from sections of the Leeds support this season and given his unreliable defending it is very little surprise.

Still only 24-years-old there is certainly another club out there for the defender but you suspect his next move will see him drop into League One, rather than the second tier.

Jordan Botaka

The youngster signed for Leeds in the summer from Dutch side Excelsior but his performances, have not yet been up to the standards required in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Democratic Republic of Congo international has only played 10 times for the Whites and Evans was highly critical of the winger, when he first arrived at the club.

Wide players are crucial to the way in which Evans likes his teams to play and there is little doubt that the manager will go in search of wingers during the summer.

That could be bad news for Botaka and a move away from Elland Road is probably the most realistic option for his development.
