With Huddersfield Town relatively safe now, David Wagner will be assessing his squad and considering who he is in plans and who hasn't pulled their weight this season.

After an excellent victory prior to the international break and the news of potential signings on the horizon, David Wagner's and Huddersfield's attention has turned to the summer.

Huddersfield's season has been a tale of two halves with the first three months of the season being directionless and mundane whereas the last three months have been action packed, and there is a sense of optimism and intent since the arrival of David Wagner.

As it is still predominantly Chris Powell's squad, Wagner will be wanting to lose the deadwood and the bad apples and creating space for his own signings.

This article will examine FIVE players who haven't pulled their weight this season and will most likely leave the club.................

Joe Murphy

One of the more unfortunate cases who has been unable to pull their weight mainly due to bad luck rather anything else is Huddersfield Town's veteran goalkeeper, Joe Murphy.

The goalkeeper has been plagued with injury with the last major injury coming against Sheffield Wednesday when a short Mark Hudson back pass led to him picking up an impact injury.

Since then, Jed Steer has more than stepped up to take his place and has been an impressive replacement on loan and if Huddersfield were to sign Jed Steer in the summer then Joe Murphy's number one spot would be under threat.

The arrival of Jed Steer has led to Joe Murphy being consigned to the bench and although when he has featured for Huddersfield, he has shown his quality. Murphy has failed to pull his weight as the senior goalkeeper.

The likelihood of Joe Murphy staying at the club is dependent on if he is comfortable being the second choice goalkeeper at the club. The 34-year-old goalkeeper may be wanting regular first team football.

Jason Davidson

Jason Davidson

The Australian international has been the most disappointing of Huddersfield's summer signings when he came from West Brom.

The left back should've cemented the left back spot but he has failed to pull his weight with David Wagner opting to use two loanees, with both Ben Chilwell and James Husband also securing the left back spot.

Davidson's controversial comments about his disappointment to not playing more regularly for Huddersfield seems unusual considering his lacklustre performances and disappointing performances defensively.

Davidson has been caught out of position on multiple occasions leading to goals and has had a number of high profile individual errors which is why he has not pulled his weight.

With the news that Huddersfield is likely to sign Chris Lowe on a pre-season contract from Kaiserslautern, the Australian left back's days at the club seem numbered and he will likely move on from the club with James Husband also potentially signing for the club permanently.

Ishmael Miller

The senior striker should've been providing serious competition for Nahki Wells especially when James Vaughan left the club during the January transfer window.

It left Miller and Wells as the only senior strikers at the club and yet Miller has only featured a handful of times. His last goal coming against Rotherham.

The big striker has suffered from injuries which have stopped him from pulling his weight but at the same time, since the arrival of David Wagner, he hasn't really had a look in.

The striker was linked with a move away from the club that shows how far down the pecking order he is and how little he has pulled his weight this season.

I will be particularly surprised if he remains at the club beyond the summer.

Elvis Manu

manuu

Although the Manu has spent the shortest amount of time at the club when Manu arrived at Huddersfield from Brighton on loan on deadline day, he is one of the prime candidates who have struggled to pull their weight.

Despite struggling at Brighton, there was cause for optimism when a quick, powerful direct attacking option was added to Huddersfield's already exciting attack.

However the winger has struggled to get to grips with Wagner's ideology and although there were opportunities for him to pull his weight and show his potential, he has squandered them and often looked lost.

There have been some personal issues that have underpinned him being unable to pull his weight but despite this, in a relatively small squad, everyone has to play their part and so far, he has yet to do so.

Manu still has some time to prove what he is capable of doing but with the arrival of fellow Dutchman Rajiv van La Parra, the likelihood of this happening is very slim.

Sean Scannell

scannell

Although the experienced winger has been rejuvenated since his return from injury, he still hasn't pulled his weight in comparison to last season.

Whereas last season where he was a menace for the vast majority of it under Chris Powell, this season, Scannell has struggled.

Initially, Scannell struggled when David Wagner arrived as he failed to adapt to the new system and adopt Wagner's mentality.

This was compounded by an injury that left him injured for three months and considering how influential last season, this is why he hasn't pulled his weight in comparison.

As Scannell has returned from injury, he seems fresher and more comfortable with the change of style and provides Huddersfield with an excellent option particularly off the bench.
