Garry Monk has done a fine job with Birmingham City that resulted in the team securing their safety in the Championship on the final day.

It capped off a successful spell for the former Leeds boss who transformed the club after taking over following Steve Cotterill's dismal reign.

Now though, the challenge for Monk will be to ensure Blues are competing at the other end of the table next year but he will be aware they need more quality adding to the squad to do that.

And, with the financial situation at the West Midlands club looking bleak he may be forced to search for bargains.

One man who could fall into that category is Nottingham Forest's Barrie McKay who will surely be available having failed to make the squad regularly since Aitor Karanka took over.

As our graphic shows, even though he has been out of favour under the Spaniard, he has had a very productive season, weighing in with five goals and seven assists in just 26 games - with many of those as a sub.

At 23-years old he has a lot of time to improve and Monk will back himself to help the player develop and get the best out of him given the natural talent he has.

An excellent dribbler and boasting great technique that means he can pick a pass, the Scotland international would add an unpredictability and excitement to a Blues side that is sometimes easy to stop in the final third.
