Now that the Championship season is over, attention at Leeds United has already been turned to the summer transfer window.

Clubs are now able to buy and sell players, with the transfer rumour mill in full swing at Leeds.

One recent rumour emerging is linking Leeds with a move for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.

Hibs want £5m for their star man, with Leeds facing competition from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Rangers for McGinn's services.

Here, FLW shines a spotlight on the midfield man's season so far and considers whether he would be a good addition for the Whites.

As shown by the fact that he has started all 35 of the games he has played this year, McGinn is vitally important to Hibs.

The 23-year-old has racked up an impressive total of five goals and six assists during those games, making him a useful attacking threat.

However, with 15 yellow cards to his name, discipline is a problem in the youngster's game - something that Paul Heckingbottom will need to address early if he signs for Leeds.

The Scotsman has been so impressive this season that he has established himself in the senior Scotland squad and earned admirers in Celtic and Rangers.

But would he be a good addition for Leeds?

There is no doubt that McGinn is a talented young player with potential to get better but he lacks Championship experience and Leeds fans will have their doubts over whether he can replicate his performances in the English league.

At £5m, they are probably better off looking elsewhere and spending that money more wisely.

He could be seen as an investment, but Leeds need to be more careful with how they spend their money and £5m is a significant outlay for an unproven player at this level.
