There were high hopes for Sam Baldock when he signed for Reading in the summer of 2018, but it's fair to say that he hasn't made the impact he would have hoped for.

Baldock arrived from Brighton and many thought that he could have been the answer to solve Reading's lack of goals in recent years.

The our-of-favour forward is the subject of our FLW Spotlight this week, so we look into his statistics in more detail.

The summer signing has fallen down the pecking order at the Madejski Stadium since Jose Gomes was appointed as Paul Clement's successor.

Baldock hasn't featured for the Royals since their Boxing Day defeat at the end of 2018, and his absence has been questioned by some supporters at the club.

In his 19 appearances, Baldock has scored five goals and be on hand ot provide one assist, so he hasn't got the worst form in front of goal.

It is believed that the striker is currently out of action with an injury, with no time scale being put on his return, which will be frustrating for supporters, who will be keen to see him return.

Baldock averages 1.3 shots per game but doesn't win many aerial duels, with the former Brighton man winning on average, 0.6 per game.

He attempts almost 15 passes each game, and with a pass success rate of 73.9%, he's certainly got a good eye for a pass which will be a pleasing statistic to read.

With Nelson Oliveira out of action though, many would have thought that Baldock should have been given a chance to impress in a Reading side that are battling to retain their Championship status this season.

He's been harshly treated by Gomes and will be weighing up his options in the future if he isn't to be given an opportunity to stake a claim for a regular starting spot at the Berkshire-based side.
