As we await the new season, we have taken a look at FIVE Birmingham City players who joined the club and struggled to make an impact.

See if you agree...

After being leading goalscorer in the Spanish Segunda division last season, Gimenez arrived at St. Andrews with an expectation to succeed and provide Clotet with some goals.

The Spaniard struggled and his spell was cut short in January, returning to Spain to join Cadiz on loan.

Daniel de Ridder arrived at Birmingham on a free transfer from Spanish side Celta Vigo and he was highly regarded as one of football’s brightest prospects during his youth career, having played alongside the likes of Ryan Babel, Royston Drenthe and Ryan Donk for the Netherlands youth sides.

Just nine appearances saw him released from his contract.

Clinton Morrison arrived at the Blues as a record signing at the time, but he struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis.

14 goals over his three-year spell at the club eventually led him to leave and re-join Palace.

Bent arrived at Birmingham in 2008 and was part of the side that won promotion to the Premier League, but he barely shone at the club and was eventually loaned out to Middlesbrough, QPR, Wolves and Sheffield United, before moving to the Indonesian Premier League.

Joining the Blues in 2007, Kingson arrived having had experience in Europe and with the Ghana national side.

However, he made just one appearances in the Premier League, and then mutually terminated his contract.
