People may forget it, but the Rio 2016 Olympics are just around the corner!

Many also forget that football is now a prominent part of the Olympic schedule, and we'll be taking a look at which Football League stars could make the cut.

The rules are that squads can only include three players over the age of 23, the rest must be under that age.

There are a plethora of talented young players plying their trade in the Sky Bet Football League, and Team GB would undoubtedly benefit from scouring these divisions and plucking some excellent players.

Take a look at the FIVE football League stars we have chosen and decide whether you agree or disagree.... IF you disagree, let us know who you would have chosen!

Meanwhile, Fitness First, Team GB’s Official Fitness Partner, has begun the countdown to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by launching a brand new Sports Profiler Tool at its flagship gym in Bishopsgate, London.

The tool has been specifically designed to help people find new sports to try out and receive Olympic-level training advice from Team GB. Have a go by pressing on the image below!

Benik Afobe

After a mixed bag of success elsewhere, Afobe had a startling season last year at MK Dons and Wolves respectively. A brace against Manchester United and a haul of 19 goals in half a season at the Dons was enough to force a move from Arsenal to Wolves, where he managed 13 goals in 21 appearances.

Afobe has been called into the England U21 squad

Afobe was included in the squad of the Under-21 European Championships this summer, after a Berahino injury, and could definitely make his way into the squad next year, if he has another good year with Wolves - which it looks like he will.

Marcus Bettinelli

His maiden year at Fulham was a very impressive one, and also earned himself a call up to the England Under-21 European Championships squad, keeping eight clean sheets in 31 appearances.

Bettinelli is wanted by Chelsea

Currently being courted by Champions Chelsea, Bettinelli can hopefully continue his good form into next year, and like Jack Butland and Jason Steele back in 2012, he can hopefully earn himself a call up.

Jordan Obita

The Reading man has just earned himself a new three year deal at the club, and despite a mediocre season last year (following his player of the year season), Obita has the pace, versatility and ability to have a good year next year.

Obita has excelled at Reading

It's that versatility which could earn himself a call up for Great Britain, as he's able to operate on the left wing, at left back or in central midfield, which could be incredibly useful for Team GB, given his very decent left foot.

Moses Odubajo

The Brentford utility man could be set for a £3.5 million switch to Hull City this summer after impressing in his maiden second tier campaign. He started life at Griffin Park as a winger, but finished in right back after decent performances during an Alan McCormack injury.

Odubajo is a target for Everton and now Hull City

With explosive pace and three goals and five assists last year, there's no reason as to why Odubajo can't continue to wow Premier League sides and earn himself a call up for Britain, which ever club it may be for.

Will Hughes

Our final pick is Will Hughes of Derby County, continually linked with Liverpool. Following up a team of the season performance in 2013/14 and winning young player of the year, he won Derby County player of the year this time round.

Hughes is one of Derby's brightest talents

It wouldn't surprise me to see Hughes in the Premier League this time next year, whether it be with Derby or someone else, but I reckon he's a shoe in for a place in the Great Britain XI.
