With the quality of the Football League getting better year after year, it is becoming more common for Premier League clubs to raid the lower divisions in England for talented players.

Manchester United are a known for developing young players and giving them a chance in the top flight and there are a number of players that the Red Devils could sign.

Wilfried Zaha and Nick Powell are just two players that the Premier League giants have plucked from the lower leagues and while it hasn't worked out for them at Old Trafford, players shouldn't be against the idea of signing for Louis Van Gaal's side as United are a club known for giving youngster players an opportunity.

Their are a number of talented players in the Football League and Manchester United's scouts will undoubtedly have their eyes on a number of players.

Demarai Gray

The Birmingham City winger burst onto the scene at the end of 2013 after he impressed then Blues manager Lee Clark in training and has been a highly sought after player ever since.

He played 41 times last season for his home town club and speculation was rife that he would soon be leaving the Midlands with a number of top Premier League interested in his services.

While United are blessed with talented wingers, having a player of Gray's potential and talent in their ranks is undoubtedly an attractive proposition for the Red Devils and they could do a lot worse than the 19-year old.

Conor Chaplin

Although Chaplin hasn't got as much first-team experience as the others on this list, the 18-year old Portsmouth striker is a player who can go a long way in the game.

He already has five goals so far this season for Paul Cook's side despite his tender his age and if he continues his goal scoring form then the League Two side may struggle to fight off admiring glances.

While he isn't going to be someone and help Louis Van Gaal's side current scoring troubles immediately, he has a bright future and working with the coaches at Carrington may help Chaplin's development even more.

Sam Byram

Could Sam Byram be moving to West Ham this month?

A Leeds player whose future has been spoken about a lot in recent weeks following Massimo Cellino's revelation that he had rejected a new contract with the club.

Byram is a very talented player and is one of the best right-sided players outside of the Premier League. His versatility makes him an even more attractive option for any interested sides.

The 22-year old could certainly add something to United and while the move to Old Trafford from Leeds would be a controversial one given the two club's rivalry, it could be a good move for Byram provided he is able to force his way into the side.

Alex Mowatt

Byram's team mate Mowatt has led by example in the middle of the park since he emerged on the scene under Brian McDermott in 2013 and has established himself as one of England's brightest prospects.

The 20-year old made his debut for the England under-20s this year and has started this season in good form despite the less than impressive displays of his club.

With United's midfield ageing, particularly in the centre, Manchester United will be looking to add some young central midfielders who can come in and fill in and replace Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick when they decide to hang up their boots.

Will Hughes

Although he is currently out injured with a cruciate ligament injury, Will Hughes is arguable the best young English central midfielder outside of the top flight and he has been linked with United in the past.

He has already played over 100 times for The Rams and is a regular for the national team's under-21 side. Hughes possess a great passing range as well as incredible vision and while it would take considerate investment to prise away from the iPro, he is a player who could give years of service.

A number of Premier League clubs have been linked with the 20-year old but no move has materialised for him. His injury may prevent a move in January, but United should certainly make Hughes one of their top targets when scouring the Football League for talent.
