Walsall rising star Rico Henry has burst onto the scene this season with a series of solid performances as part of the Saddlers' back four, to the point where he has attracted interest from Premier League giants Manchester United.

United look keen to secure the services of one of the very best young talents in the country, and should the Saddlers make a move for Henry, it is likely he will ply his trade with the club's development squad to begin with.

The 18-year-old left-back was born and raised in Birmingham but a move to a club the size of Manchester United would be too good to turn down, despite the fact is enjoying his role in the Saddlers side this season.

Here Football League World's Lee Clarke takes a look at FIVE Football League players who could well join Henry at Old Trafford in January......

Charlie Austin

United are desperate for a striker and could do a lot worse than turn to Queens Park Rangers striker Austin.

His 18-goal haul in the top flight last season saw the R's slap a £15 million bounty on the head of the 26-year-old, which proved too hefty to tempt anyone into a purchase.

Austin looks destined to the leave the West London-based club at some point and reports have now suggested the club may accept £8 million for the player, as they look to offload him before his contract runs down and they lose him for nothing.

Daniel Bentley

The Southend United goalkeeper is one of the most sought-after in the country and several top flight clubs are monitoring the youngster.

The 22-year-old was in superb form for the Shrimpers last season as they won promotion into League One and he has carried on his impressive displays into the current campaign.

Right now United have David de Gea in irresistible form but you can't help but think he might still end up at his beloved Real Madrid at some point in the next couple of years, which would leave the Red Devils looking to fill a void.

Solly March

The Brighton and Hove Albion winger has attracted the attention of Southampton this season, but interest from Manchester United would probably persuade the youngster to leave the AMEX even more.

The 22-year-old looks destined for a really bright future in the game and it is little surprise that Brighton sit top of the Championship table in a season, which has seen March feature prominently in the side.

United boss Louis van Gaal has been critical of his wide players at times during this season which could prompt him into scouring the market for another wide recruit.

Ahmed Elmohamady

The Hull City right full-back would be a superb acquisition for United given the style and shape van Gaal likes his side to play.

With pace to burn and a knack of creating chances from wide areas, the Egyptian international might not be an household name in the English game but his performances so far this season have suggested that he is way too good for the Championship.

United have used Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young out of position in the right wing-back role and signing the Tigers player could put a stop to that.

Che Adams

The Sheffield United forward is a 19-year-old who looks sure to be a Premier League footballer at some point in his career.

After bursting onto the scene last season with a brace against Tottenham Hotspur in the Capital One Cup semi-final, he has taken his chance in this first time this season with seven goals from 19 appearances.

Adams is mature beyond his years and United would be wise to try and tie down the youngster ahead of his best years.
