Bristol City have had some long-serving and faithful players over the years but they've also had a fair few whose contributions to the first team were minimal.

Whether it was academy players never quite making the grade, speculative signings not coming off, or loan arrivals that turned out to be a disappointment.

Some of them fade from the memory quickly while others prove unforgettable for one reason or another.

We've scoured City's records to highlight five ex-Bristol City players who only ever made one appearance for the club – do you remember them?

Arnold Garita

Arnold Garita can be put firmly in the speculative signing category.

The forward was signed cheaply from French third tier side LB Châteauroux in 2016 but it was a transfer that never quite paid off.

Garita came off the bench in a 1-0 EFL Cup victory against Wycombe in August 2016 but was never seen again in a City shirt, going out on loan to Plymouth Argyle before departing permanently in 2018.

Dekel Keinan

Rolling the clocks back further to March 2012, Israeli centre-back Dekel Keinan is a rare breed in that he joined the Robins on loan from Cardiff City

That spell lasted just two months and didn't prove to be much of a helping hand.

The defender only appearance saw him come on as an 89th-minute substitute against Middlesbrough, though he did help City claim a 1-1 draw.

Keinan headed back to the Bluebirds in May 2012 and returned to Israel that summer.

Shawn McCoulsky

Shawn McCoulsky is likely a name that many City fans will recognise as for some time it seemed as though he could be a future star at Ashton Gate. The striker joined the Robins from Dulwich Hamlet in 2015 and turned heads with his goalscoring feats while coming through the ranks at the South West club and out on loan.

However, things never worked out for him in Bs3 and his 14-minute cameo against Hull City in the EFL Cup in 2016 proved to be his only senior appearance for the club.

Diego De Girolamo

Signing Diego De Girolamo on a free transfer from Sheffield United in 2016 was a risk worth taking but one that ultimately didn't pay off.

Having spent more than a decade at Bramall Lane, the attacker moved down to the South West in 2016 but struggled to make the grade with the Robins.

De Girolamo came off the bench against Scunthorpe United in a 2-1 EFL Cup victory but that was to be his one and only City appearance.

Ben Gladwin

Ben Gladwin arrived on loan from QPR in January 2017 as Lee Johnson looked for reinforcements to help avoid relegation from the Championship.

The midfielder started against Leeds United a week after his arrival but that proved to be his only appearance for the South West club and his move was cut short in March.

It's fair to say he wasn't a player that was missed much at Ashton Gate.
