Derby County have had a strong production line of talents from their academy, and the next generation look well set to continue that.

With Frank Lampard at the helm, youngsters are guaranteed they will get minutes and tutoring from one of England’s best ever midfielders.

With Derby having their annual collapse, Lampard will probably turn to experience rather than youth, but we may see some get a call up as the season progresses.

Some have already made their name in the first team, be that in the league or the cup, and Derby also have some top quality out on loan.

Here, we look at five youngsters Rams fans should be raving about.

Agree, or have you thought of someone we’ve forgot? Let us know!

Luke Thomas

Luke Thomas has been a regular for Coventry City in League One this season and at the age of 20, he has a bright future.

Thomas has played over 30 times on his loan stint and Lampard may keep him at the club next season rather than allowing him another loan.

Max Lowe

Max Lowe is another star out on loan. The full back was sent to Aberdeen, where he will gain some vital experience.

Max Bird

Max Bird is just 18, but is certainly one of Derby’s brightest talents.

The midfielder made his first team debut in September 2017 at the age of 16, and could be the next big thing at the club.

Jayden Bogle

It feels like cheating to include Jayden Bogle in this list as he has already made his breakthrough into the first team, but the 18-year-old is probably Lampard’s best young talent.

They will do well to keep him.

Jonathan Mitchell

Jonathan Mitchell is 24, so maybe not a kid, but that is young for a goalkeeper. He joined Shrewsbury Town on loan and he could earn some vital experience there.
