It's been another frustrating season for Derby County, who after big investment, only find themselves in the playoff spots.

Now, that may seem enviable to many clubs in the Championship, and the Football League as a whole, as the Rams could well find themselves in the Premier League next season.

Still, after yet another season of seeing an automatic push fade away, there's no doubt frustration within the ranks.

Clearly, they have a squad packed to the rafters with high levels of talent.

Perhaps then, the vultures will starting circling should the fail for promotion again. Perhaps that could be a wise avenue to go down.

Another side whose disappointments this season pale in comparison to others is Celtic. They're about to win their fifth consecutive league title yet the mood is still sour.

The Hoops have stagnated, as ridiculous as that sounds, in the absence of arch-rivals Rangers and need to acquire some top talent now their old foes are returning for war.

Chris Martin

Scotland international Chris Martin would be both a popular and astute addition to the ranks in Glasgow.

The striker could form a mouth-watering partnership with Leigh Griffiths, holding up play and dropping deeper to allow the former Hibs man to break behind enemy lines.

A potent marksman himself, the 27-year old would flourish North of the Border no doubt.

Will Hughes

Any move for Will Hughes may appear to be a tad ambitious right off the bat.

However, when was the last time a club the size of Celtic made a statement signing? If they truly harbour aspirations of making it back into the Champions League, they must do exactly that.

The England under-21 international is righty regarded as hot prospect, though has seen his season derailed by serious injury.

Still, he'd be a wonderful signing for the Hoops and seriously signal their intent going forward.

Andreas Weimann

It looks highly likely that last year's Player of the Year, Stefan Johansen, will be following Deila in leaving Parkhead this summer.

As a result, they need an incisive wide forward in order to replace the Norwegian, one who provides a palpable goal threat.

In that respect, Andreas Weimann would be a good option. A hard worked, he's likely to chip in with a few goals in wider areas if he were to ply his trade in the Scottish Premiership.

George Thorne

Scott Brown has come in for some criticism recently and the Hoops could certainly do with some help in a central midfield berth.

George Thorne would be an ideal signing on that front and help restore some of the mobility in the engine room Brown's dip in form has cleared out.

Again an ambitious move, but he'd likely exert his dominance over most engine rooms North of the Border.

Cyrus Christie

Mikael Lustig is entering the final year of his deal, while Saidy Janko has seen his first full season in Glasgow blighted by niggling injuries.

With that in mind, perhaps a move for Irish right-back Cyrus Christie would be a wise one.

The 23-year old is a powerful runner up and down the right flank, able to muscle out opposition attacks while possessing the necessary engine to support his own ones.
