Football is finally back this weekend as the Premier League and Championship get back up and running and many are excited about that fact.

In the Championship, there's plenty to play for for a lot of clubs and two sides going for the play-offs, Blackburn and Bristol City, meet at Ewood Park this weekend.

With that in mind, we're taking a look back at their first meeting this season, a 2-0 win for Rovers.

Coming in mid-December, the men from the north-west travelled to Ashton Gate and went in front very early on.

Bradley Johnson scored the opener in the second minute, crashing home from a Lewis Holtby corner.

The Robins, being at home, had the better of the possession and had their own chances but Blackburn stood firm, and had more shots on target during the contest with another finding the net in the last portion of the game.

Johnson turned provider for Adam Armstrong to strike and that sealed the three points for Rovers, as well as extending their unbeaten run to six games at the time.

Going into this weekend, then, Rovers might well fancy their chances but both are top six contenders and it should be an entertaining affair.

With this effective mini-season getting underway, meanwhile, a quick start is of utmost importance to both.
