It is often touted as the key position on the field, and the position in the team which managers and chairmen often part with big transfer fees and wages to secure, but having the right striker leading your line, really can be the difference between success and failure.

It has  been proven over time that if you get the goals, then your team can be a success.

The likes of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke were key to Manchester United's treble winning team, while Didier Drogba was the main man in years of success with Chelsea.

The same can be said of strikers down in the Championship, where there are plenty of players leading the line with the ability to not only take the Championship by storm, but take that form into the Premiership.

Indeed, you only have to look at Charlie Austin and Jamie Vardy in recent years for proof of this.

With this in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor has identified FIVE Championship strikers who Premier League clubs should look to sign....

Andre Gray

The obvious place to start, and if Burnley don't win promotion, a sure thing to be one of the most talked about players in the summer transfer window.

23 goals this season, teamed with 7 assists, have led many to believe Gray is the next big star outside of the top flight.

He has lived up the expectation surrounding his big money move in the summer from Brentford, and he may well get the chance to ply his trade in the Premier League with the Clarets if the season pans out well.

If not, then Gray will be in high demand, with plenty of Premier League clubs already showing interest.

Moussa Dembele

The young Fulham hitman has been a star all season long up alongside Ross McCormack, scoring 14 crucial goals to keep the club just about clear of relegation.

Dembele is fully expected though to be on the move in the summer, with a number of high profile European clubs already interested in his services. Should a Premier League club allow him to slip through the net, it could well be a crucial error.

Dembele is still very young, and very raw, but is no doubt set for a huge future in the game. With fees of only around £5-6m being muted, it would appear that he may well be a snip for any potential suitors.

Tomer Hemed

Another striker who is right in the picture for promotion, Hemed has excelled during his first season in English football under Chris Hughton.

The big but very mobile striker has 13 goals to his name, and has been a key man as Brighton have looked to secure a place in the top two. His workrate for the team does also not go unnoticed, and he is a thorn in the side to many a defender.

Hemed has impressed massively, and if Brighton do not make the Premier League, he could well be on the radar for Premier League clubs looking for a new striker next season.

Jonathan Kodjia

The pacey front man has been an excellent acquisition for Bristol City since arriving last summer, with moments of brilliance on occasion.

He has scored 14 goals in a team battling for survival, and seems to be a hidden gem which was uncovered by then manager Steve Cotterill.

Kodjia has pace and power in abundance, something many top sides look for, and could be a risk worth taking for those trying to climb the footballing ladder in the top flight.

It might not be an obvious choice in this list, but he is most definitely worth a shout.

Abel Hernandez

The 3rd top goalscorer with 16 goals this term, Hernandez is a player of international class and surely belongs in the Premier League if Hull do not make it up themselves.

Hernandez has been excellent this term for Steve Bruces side, and they clearly miss him when he is not in the first 11, with fellow strikers Sone Aluko and Chuba Akpom unable to step up to the fold like Hernandez does.

If Hull fail to win promotion, plenty of clubs in the top flight will be sniffing around Hernandez, who has international experience at the top level, and can surely bring something to a host of clubs in the Premier League.
