Arsenal are one of the biggest sides in world football and a contender for the Premier League title this season and currently sit in fourth position.

Wenger is expected to pay big in January to add to his squad for the run in and they certainly have a very large bank balance to do this, as they didn't spend anything in the summer.

The midfield have been spectacularly brilliant for Arsenal this season, with Mesut Ozil finally fulfilling his potential, and already breaking numerous records this season for the number of assists he has.

Also, Sanchez has been brilliant and Koscielny excellent at the back for them, but they just don't have a top striker.

Giroud is very inconsistent and injury prone whilst Welbeck is currently out with a long term injury, and come January it is very likely that Arsenal will buy a top striker to spearhead their attack.

Even though they will most likely go for a big star abroad, if they are going to delve into the Championship, then these are FIVE strikers they should consider for instant success or as a long term investment........

Charlie Austin

QPR hitman Austin was strongly linked with a Premier League move all summer but his price tag seemingly put teams off.

With it being January most of the top clubs will be reluctant to sell their top strikers halfway through the season, so Arsenal may have to settle for less.

Austin is a proven Premier League striker and with good service around him, he would flourish in the Arsenal team.

The large price tag is unlikely to put wealthy Arsenal off, who don't exactly have money worries.

Zach Clough

Wenger has put faith in young strikers since the start of his reign at Arsenal, and 20-year-old Clough is one of the most prized young strikers in the division.

Bolton's most prized asset is likely to cost a lot, but as I said, money isn't a problem for Arsenal.

Clough is not a quick fix for Arsenal as he is too young and inexperienced, but instead a long term project, and it would be wise for Arsenal to loan him out to help him mature.

Lucas Joao

The Sheffield Wednesday youngster is like Clough and more of a long term project for Arsenal.

He has raised a few eyebrows since his move to Hillsborough and is making quite the impression with some impressive goals and interplay, and has been crucial to Sheffield Wednesday's success so far this season.

He also scored a well taken header against Arsenal in the Capital One Cup and has been capped for Portugal at youth level.

Andre Gray

Gray may be a quick fix for Arsenal and has made an impressive start to his career at Burnley this season.

He is an established goalscorer at this level, with a great goalscoring record at Brentford last season where he was crucial in leading them to the play-offs last season.

Gray has scored 11 goals already for Burnley this season and will be crucial in their attempt to go straight back up.

Moussa Dembele

Moussa Dembele

The Fulham youngster has made an impressive start to the season with seven goals in 14 appearances, after previous seasons of maturing at Craven Cottage.

He has been capped by France at every youth level and as we know with Henry, Sanogo and Pires, Wenger is very interested at recruiting talented young French players at an early age.

Dembele is being scouted by many top Premier League clubs including Manchester United, so Arsenal may need to act fast.
