Leeds midfielder Lewis Cook is rumoured to be on Manchester United's radar for January.

Since his debut in August 2014 against Millwall, Cook hasn't looked back.

The 18-year-old has been ever present in Leeds' side last season and this season, and looks set for the top.

In particular, Cook's ability on the ball has impressed, and the maturity of his performances in the centre of midfield have caught the eye of Premier League clubs.

Manchester United are a club that has previously bought young talents for the Football League, with the biggest example of this when they signed attacking midfielder Nick Powell from Crewe in 2012, although Powell is yet to make a massive impact at Old Trafford.

The importance of recruiting young players from the Football League is massive, and there are plenty of examples of former Football League stars making a big impact in The Premier League.

Here's FIVE players that could potentially follow Lewis Cook to Manchester United in January......

Moussa Dembele

Moussa Dembele

Fulham striker Moussa Dembele has been one of the Craven Cottage outfit's stand out players thus far this season.

The French born striker has scored nine times in 20 appearances for Fulham, which is impressive for someone who is only 19 years of age.

With Man United struggling in numbers for strikers, Dembele could be an option for them.

Sam Byram

Could Sam Byram be moving to West Ham this month?

Cook's teammate Sam Byram is certainly a player who has the potential to make an impact at Old Trafford.

The attacking full back has made over 100 appearances for Leeds, and has became a fans favourite at Elland Road.

At only 22 years of age, the sky is the limit for Byram, and could well find himself playing in the Premier League sooner rather than later.

Charlie Taylor

Yet another Leeds United player, Taylor has excelled for the Whites at left-back this season.

The defender has already been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal sending scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action for Leeds.

Taylor is superb both offensively and defensively, and would provide United with a long-term solution for the left-back position at the club.

Andrew Robertson

With Luke Shaw facing a long spell on the sidelines, Man United will be looking for a new left back.

They could do far worse than trying to get Hull City left back Andrew Robertson.

The 21-year-old has impressed for Steve Bruce's side since signing from Dundee United last season, and has even been capped eight times for the Scottish national team.

Will Hughes

Will Hughes has been one of the brightest young talents in the Football League for a few years now, but is yet to get a big move to a Premier League club.

The technical ability of the 20-year-old midfielder is there for all to see, and Hughes definitely has the potential to play for England one day.

Even though Hughes is injured at the moment, Louis van Gaal should definitely consider bringing Hughes to Old Trafford.
