With the upcoming Championship campaign scheduled to kick off in just under two months time, preparations are already well underway at each of the league's 24 clubs.

Although it may turn out to be very difficult to top last season's action in terms of drama, it will be intriguing to see just how the year pans out.

With a plethora of talented individuals looking to make their name in the second-tier, it would not be at all surprising if we end up witnessing the emergence of a future superstar or two over the course of the next 12 months.

Keeping this in mind, here are five players aged 21 or under who we think could set the Championship alight with their performances...

Ryan Edmondson

An exciting young forward, Ryan Edmondson could be in line for a permanent call up to Leeds United's first team having fired in 19 goals in all competitions for their under-23s side last season.

Having made two brief cameo appearances in the Championship since joining the Whites from York City in 2017, the 18-year-old will be aiming to provide some serious competition to the likes of Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford who currently lead the line at Elland Road.

If he can continue on his upwards career trajectory, there is no reason why Edmondson cannot cause a splash in the second-tier during the upcoming campaign.

Jayden Bogle

After bursting onto the scene for Derby County last season, Jayden Bogle will be looking to consolidate his performances by repeating his successes next year.

An attacking full-back, the 18-year-old managed was directly involved in 11 goals in 50 appearances for the Rams as he helped them reach the play-off final last month,

Very much a mainstay in Frank Lampard's side, Bogle is seemingly destined for big things in the future and for the Rams' sake, they will be hoping that he can achieve that whilst staying at Pride Park.

Tyrese Campbell

Although he has yet to reach the heights that were expected of him at Stoke City, Tyrese Campbell may return to the bet365 Stadium with a renewed sense of confidence following an encouraging loan spell at Shrewsbury Town in which he scored five goals in 15 appearances.

If the 19-year-old can forge a deadly partnership with Benik Afobe next season, the Potters may emerge as one of the contenders for promotion to the Premier League in what will be Nathan Jones' first full year in charge of the club.

Jacob Brown

Having set up six goals whilst also scoring eight of his own for Barnsley in League One last season, Jacob Brown seemingly has all the ingredients needed to thrive in the second tier under the guidance of Daniel Stendel.

If he can make the correct adjustments to his game, the forward may end becoming a key player for the Tykes as they look to establish themselves as a Championship team over the coming years.

Marcus Tavernier

An incredibly gifted player, it only seems as if it is a matter of time before Marcus Tavernier tears the Championship apart with his wide array of skills.

Whereas he was only used sporadically by Tony Pulis last season, it would be a shock if Jonathan Woodgate doesn't try to integrate him into Middlesbrough's plans for the future as he is without a shadow of a doubt the best player to come out of their academy in recent years.
