As we enter the November international break, the Championship table is beginning to take shape.

Unsurprisingly, early favourites Newcastle lead the league having lost just three games from their opening 16. While other pre-season favourites such as Brighton and Norwich also sit in the play-off places.

Huddersfield have been the surprise package, they occupy third place after an incredible start to 2016/17. Despite a poor start, Garry Monk's Leeds are in the top six, they've lost just one of their last six league games.

Down at the bottom, Aston Villa and Derby are starting to turn things around after both having poor starts which saw them sack their respective managers. 3 of the bottom 4 sides in the Championship have changed manager already this season, Cardiff who are now managed by Neil Warnock are starting to improve, while the likes of Rotherham look as if they will be embroiled in a relegation scrap.

With still 30 matches left to play it could all change of course. Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Rob Booth identifies FIVE Championship newcomers who have hit the ground running...

Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham joined Bristol City on loan from Chelsea and has had a great start to life in the Championship.

The 19-year-old has bagged 12 goals in all competitions for the Robins this season, 9 of which have been in league matches, helping Lee Johnson's side rise to 9th place in the table.

Abraham has played in all 16 of Bristol City's Championship fixtures so far this season, scoring in 7 different games including two braces against Sheffield Wednesday and Burton. If the Robins are to continue to perform and push for a play-off place then Abraham's goal scoring abilities will be vital.

Jackson Irvine

Jackson Irvine signed for Burton Albion over the summer, arriving from SPL side Ross County.

The 23-year-old midfielder has netted 5 goals in 15 games for the Brewers as they sit 18th in the league table, 4 points clear of the drop zone. Burton's results have dropped in recent weeks, as Nigel Clough has only seen his side win once in their last 5 attempts, however the East Midlands club started brightly and Irvine was arguably their best player as Burton went 5 games unbeaten after losing their opening 2.

The Australian had never played outside of Scottish football before joining Burton, spending his career at Ross County, Kilmarnock and Celtic but Jackson Irvine has adapted well to the second tier of English football, and his continued good form will be welcomed at the Pirelli Stadium.

Pontus Jansson

Pontus Jansson arrived at Leeds United this summer on loan from Italian outfit Torino.

The Swedish defender has played 11 games since arriving in Yorkshire, and in his last time out he scored in Leeds' 3-2 win over Norwich City. Jansson has been one of the best players in Garry Monk's side as they turned their form around to lift out of the bottom three and into the top six.

It's been a long time since Leeds have challenged at the top end of the Championship, if players like Pontus Jansson continue to play to the standard they have, Monk's men can be serious promotion contenders.

DeAndre Yedlin

DeAndre Yedlin joined Newcastle in the summer for an undisclosed fee from Tottenham Hotspur.

The defender has impressed in the North East, he's made 11 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions, contributing one goal. Newcastle have kept clean sheets in 6 of those 11 matches that Yedlin has appeared in.

Rafa Benitez has a strong squad at Newcastle, but Yedlin has established himself in the first team and his performance's will continue to help Newcastle as they look to carry on their emphatic form and return to the Premier League.

Christopher Schindler

Christopher Schindler arrived at Huddersfield this summer from German side 1860 Munich.

The centre back has appeared in all 16 of Huddersfield's league matches, and has impressed since his arrival in Yorkshire. Schindler netted his first goal in English football in a 1-0 victory away to Ipswich, and has helped the Terriers rise to an unexpected third place after a great start to the season.

Huddersfield will be hoping to shock everyone and finish in a play-off place, players like Christopher Schindler who has been solid at the back so far for David Wagner's men will be a real help in achieving this.
