The Championship has an abundance of talented midfielders in the second-tier that have produced impressive displays over the past year.

The winger’s position is among one of the most important players on the pitch. They have to provide extreme energy levels to burst up and down the flanks and they deliver crosses for strikers to get themselves on the scoresheet.

There have been many left winger’s that have made their way up from the Championship that have solidified themselves as top Premier League players, such as Yannick Bolasie and Ashley Young.

With the summer almost upon us, the transfer window is set to open its door's for clubs to dip into the market.

When a player impresses in the Championship, there is always the case that they could be snapped up by a Premier League side.

The proposition to play among some of the world’s elite is an appetising offer and there are a number of left midfielder’s in the second-tier that have caught the eye.

Sam Clucas – Hull City

Sam ClucasSam Clucas

The winger has been a major part of Hull’s bid to bounce straight back to the Premier League, as the midfielder has netted 6 goals in 43 appearances for his side this year.

Clucas attracted the attention of Hull last summer for his impressive spells with Mansfield and Chesterfield, and the jump to the Championship certainly hasn’t fazed the 25-year old.

Another positive side to his play is his versatility - filling in at left-back and centre midfield when asked to do so.

With Hull starting to stutter in form, they face the possibility of cracking under pressure and falling at the last hurdle that could have an affect on Clucas' career at the KC.

Clucas has shown Premier League qualities this season and he would prove an excellent signing for any mid-table side.

George Boyd – Burnley

Boyd has been one of Burnley’s most consistent performers over the years and shows no sign of his display’s deteriorating this year.

He has been instrumental in Burnley’s successful return to the Championship this season – netting 3 goals and 4 assists in 41 starts for The Clarets.

During his season in the Premier League with Burnley, he looked at home against some of the Premier Leagues best full backs - showing his class when he scored the winning goal against Manchester City last year.

The winger has an excellent technical ability and always looks dangerous when he bursts forward. He is another player that would be an excellent addition to any lower-league top-flight club.

Albert Adomah – Middlesbrough

In a season that started with Albert Adomah handing in a transfer request after just a handful of games, it has ended in a more positive fashion for the winger, who has been an integral part of the Middlesbrough squad this season.

Adomah`s rise from non-league football almost saw him become a Premier League player last May, as he featured 51 times for Boro on their way to the Championship play-off final.

We all know what Adomah can do, and should Boro replicate their disappointment from last season, a Premier League club should make an approach for the winger.

Ross Wallace – Sheffield Wednesday

Wallace has been pivotal in the Owl’s campaign – contributing 42 appearances, netting 4 goals and has 9 assists.

The winger signed for Wednesday on a free transfer, but with only a 12-month deal, he will be hoping that he has impressed Wednesday boss, Carlos Carvahal enough to earn a new contract.

The Scotland international has helped Wednesday push for their first promotion chase in over three seasons and will be hoping for some clarity on where he stands with the club soon.

Wallace is a proven winger who has turned full backs inside - out all season. He would be a valued asset to the Premier League and player that is at the top of his game at the moment.

Tom Ince – Derby County

The winger has always had a lot to live up to during his playing career and has shown his qualities during his time with Blackpool.

He was regarded to be one of the next future England stars and live up to his father’s name, Paul.

His career has taken a step in the right direction this season after a dismal spell with Hull that backfired on him.

He has bagged 10 goals and notched up six assists in the 38 games he has played for Derby. His deadly finishing, and lethal left-foot have been the scourge of opposition defenses all season.

Ince is still at a relatively young age, and has time to live up to his big name status.

An excellent season in the Premier League would do the winger a world of good and the footballing world would finally start to believe that he could become a great player.
