With the English Football League releasing the 2019/20 Championship fixture list earlier today, all 24 clubs know now when they will be facing each other through the course of the upcoming campaign.

Last year's League One champions Luton Town will kick off proceedings at Kenilworth Road on Friday 2nd August against Middlesbrough before the rest of the second-tier make their bow on Saturday and Sunday.

Considering the scale of some of the match-ups that will be taking place, it will not be at all surprising if the Championship is able to produce a level of drama that exceeds what we saw last season.

Keeping this in mind, here are five fixtures that we think you should be keeping a note of in your calendars...

Leeds United vs Derby County - 21st September

Having both narrowly missed out on promotion in May, Leeds United and Derby County will be aiming to gone step better next season and so their meeting on 21st September will be a real acid test for their credentials.

With their match-ups during the 2018/19 campaign overshadowed by the 'Spygate' scandal which dominated headlines in January, there will definitely not be any love lost between Marcelo Bielsa and Frank Lampard with the latter having the last laugh by knocking the Whites out of the play-offs in dramatic fashion.

Swansea City vs Cardiff City - 26th October

A game which was first held in 1912, the South Wales derby is always an enthralling affair and so when Cardiff City and Swansea City meet for the first time in 5 years on 26th October, expect fireworks.

Whereas the Bluebirds hold the all-time record for victories in the fixture (44), the Jacks currently hold the bragging rights having won the most recent clash between the two sides 3-0.

Nottingham Forest vs Derby County - 9th November

Although Nottingham Forest and Derby have faced off on a remarkable 104 occasions, neither set of supporters will ever get tired of seeing their side triumph in this age old rivalry.

Therefore, when the two come to blows on November 9th, those watching on could be treated with yet another afternoon of drama at the City Ground in the latest addition of the East-Midlands Derby.

Millwall vs Charlton Athletic - 9th November

Whereas the match-up between Forest and the Rams may end up overshadowing Millwall's clash with Charlton Athletic due to both fixtures occurring on the same day, the ferociousness of this South London derby cannot be understated.

With the Lions currently edging the head-to-head record between the two sides, they will be aiming to extend their advantage over an Addicks side who will be brimming with confidence having just been promoted from League One.

Huddersfield Town vs Leeds United - 7th December

Although there will be a plethora of Yorkshire derbies in the Championship next season, it could be argued that the most mouthwatering clash will occur between Huddersfield Town and Leeds on December 7th.

Considering the fact that both sides will have lofty ambitions for their second-tier campaigns, it would be a shock if this particular fixture doesn't end up being an absolute cracker.
