Since making his first team debut in 2014, Paddy McNair has seen his career at Old Trafford become somewhat stop start as he has looked to build on his promising start in the first team, and cement a regular place in the starting line up.

Things have not gone quite as well for McNair though since Louis Van Gaal took over, with a spate of injuries and Van Gaal preferring others, leading to McNair finding himself struggling to get regular game time.

However, with the loan window due to stay open until the end of March, there will be plenty of clubs, especially in the Championship, who might be willing to take McNair on a short term basis.

The final few months promise to be as exciting as ever in the Championship, as the promotion race and relegation battle reaches its conclusion.

Here at Football League World, we have taken a look at FIVE Championship clubs who should look to take McNair on loan.....

Burnley

A short trip across Lancashire could well suit all parties involved, and McNair would be playing in a team challenging for promotion in the Championship.

Sean Dyche has built a solid team, but is renowned for not using many players over the course of a season, so McNair's freshness could well be useful as the final fixtures approach.

McNair is capable of either starting or providing cover for the Clarets, and it would make sense for him to move to a club which sits not too far away from Old Trafford by location.

Bolton Wanderers

Bolton are really up against it in the fight against relegation, with off field troubles adding to on pitch woes.

Neil Lennon has done a sterling job though of trying to keep the club going and make sure results stay positive, and they still sit with a slight chance of beating the drop.

Signing McNair from fellow Lancashire club Manchester United could be a shrewd move, as he would most definitely walk straight into the team at the Macron.

It would be doing both clubs a favour, as McNair would gain some valuable experience, while Bolton would get a player of undoubted quality added to their ranks.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are a team on the up, despite being under an embargo, and have had a good season under Dougie Freedman.

If McNair wants to continue his footballing education at a solid club with a rich history, with a manager who most definitely has a plan, then he should look no further than joining Forest.

If it wasn't for a lack of goals and the injury to star striker Britt Assombalonga, then many believe Forest would be pushing for the play-offs at least.

Signing McNair would be a real boost to the ranks as Freedman will be looking for his side to finish strongly and take some form in to next season.

Cardiff City

Cardiff are sitting just outside the play-off positions, and have put a fairly decent run of results together over the past few weeks.

It might be that McNair chooses to join Russell Slade and his charges, and link up once again with ex-Man United defender Fabio at the Cardiff City stadium.

It would be an excellent capture for Slade, and one who would slot right in to the starting line-up given the chance, where he could operate alongside experience skipper Matthew Connolly in the Bluebirds back line.

Adding a player of McNair's quality at this stage of the season would be a timely boost to the squad.

Hull City

Hull City have an excellent squad, but it's hard to count out them signing any of Man United's players, due to Steve Bruce and his obvious links to his old club.

They have recently raided Old Trafford to take Nick Powell on loan until the end of the season, and will no doubt be keeping a keen eye on the likes of McNair and other young talents in Louis van Gaal's squad.

McNair could definitely provide cover and challenge for a first team spot, and would freshen things up in a backline which has been the best in the Championship this season.
