As the race for promotion, as well as the fight to avoid relegation, hots up in the Championship, there will be plenty of clubs looking to make crucial loan signings before the end of March, as they look to secure their fate one way or another.

One such player who clubs could take a look at, is Leicester City midfielder Matty James.

The former Man United youngster is returning from a long term injury, and may well find it hard to break in to the team at the King Power, with the Foxes flying high in the Premier League and in with a real chance of snatching a first Premier League title.

James is an excellent midfield player, and played a part in Leicester's fight for survival last season, before injuries derailed his progress this year.

Here at Football League World, we have taken a look at FIVE Championship clubs who should look to sign James on loan......

Wolves

Wolves are lying in mid-table in the Championship, but put in a fighting performance at the weekend to run out 2-1 winners over Derby County live on Sky.

However, consistency has been a problem for the men from Molineux, and James would complement the midfield talents of Kevin McDonald perfectly, while lifting some of the weight off his shoulders when it comes to controlling a game.

If Kenny Jackett can convince James to join him at Molineux, it would be a real pick up for fans, who have seen their season draw to a bit of a halt since Christmas.

Burnley

The current league leaders have a solid midfield pairing in Barton and Jones, but should one pick up an injury, then having adequate and quality cover could be crucial in the run in.

Signing James would provide this, and he would be an excellent addition to a Clarets squad who have their minds firmly set on promotion.

He could play with both Barton or Jones, and could even form a midfield three with them should Sean Dyche decide to change his system for certain games.

James' big match experience could also prove vital to Dyche.

Rotherham United

At the opposite end of the spectrum to Burnley, are Rotherham United.

Under Neil Warnock, they are bound to put up a real fight against relegation, and Warnock is well known for bringing plenty of players in who fit what he requires.

James could well be that man that Warnock tries to convince to move to the New York Stadium, and is just the type of player you can imagine Warnock bringing in.

James could provide a cool head and midfield engine for the Millers, something which some fans would say has been lacking.

There is no doubt he would walk straight in to the team at Rotherham, and if Warnock could get James in, it would be a real coup.

Derby County

Derby are need of a pick me up, and while joining one of your local rivals might not seem the best move, it wouldn't put pressure on James to move away from his current base in Leicester.

The Rams have fallen away from the automatic promotion race, but are still well in contention to secure a play-off spot, and may see James' experience as something they cannot pass up.

Derby have Jeff Hendrick and George Thorne, as well as a returning Craig Bryson, but the chance to add someone of Matty James quality to the ranks and make use of his promotion experience could be invaluable.

Sheffield Wednesday

One of the most active teams in January and the during the summer last year, the Owls would most definitely be interested in signing James.

The Owls have Kieran Lee and Sam Hutchinson as regulars in the middle of the park, but the chance to add some more Premier League quality to their squad will be something which Carlos Carvalhal may not be able to ignore.

Wednesday are in their best position in the league for many a year, and Carvalhal will see adding more quality to his squad as something which can do no harm as he seeks to guide them to promotion to the Premier League.
