Nick Powell made an excellent impression at Crewe in the season they went up, and he scored an excellent goal in the play-off final against Cheltenham - and his performances that season for Crewe earned him a move to Manchester United.

But, he has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford and has been subject to loan moves during his career there, with the one to Wigan being a fairly successful one with seven goals in 33 appearances.

But other than that, the loan spells have been a failure including the one with Leicester City last season, where he only got three starts.

Powell will surely be seeking a move away from United if he isn't given a chance to prove himself, and the fact he is still only 21 shows that he does have enormous potential.

But a loan move to the Championship would be very beneficial to Powell and United as he looks for a permanent move and given his success with Wigan a couple of years ago in the Championship, he can certainly handle the rough and tumble of the Championship.

Here are FIVE clubs that should be particularly interested in Powell's signature.....

Nottingham Forest

They are always on the lookout for quality at Forest and Powell would fit the bill.

After there impressive 1-0 win over local rivals Derby, they have showed potential to push for the play-offs.

They have actually played very well all season and their performance doesn't correctly merit their position, but maybe the win over Derby could start a good run.

Freedman will be key to add to the midfield in the winter and with a quality player like Powell rotting away in the Manchester United reserves, he would be a good option to Freedman as they look for a play-off challenge.

Hull City

Hull will be challenging for the title this season and have one of the strongest squads in the league this year.

They are up near the top of the table and with their 3-0 demolition of fellow contenders Middlesbrough, they have certainly set the bar.

Bruce has contacts at his own club and would be able to bring in fringe players if he wanted from United.

Whilst Powell isn't necessarily needed, no side in the Championship would turn down an opportunity to strengthen there squad.

Brighton

The Seagulls are currently second in the Championship and are the surprise package this season, and are the only unbeaten team in the Football League.

There squad isn't the strongest though so if Hughton wants to assure his team can maintain this challenge over the whole season, he will need to add in January, as one injury to a key player could cripple there challenge.

Hughton is known for his clever use of the loan market and the free agents market, which his success at Birmingham was based.

So Hughton may repeat the trick by bringing in Powell for the crucial run in, in the New Year.

Reading

Steve Clarke

Another team hopeful of a top six challenge after their positive start to the season sees them just outside the play-off places.

Manager Steve Clarke majorly strengthened in the summer adding players like Matej Vydra to their ranks and current players like Nick Blackman have been a revelation this season.

To maintain this push, Clarke will likely  strengthen in January, and he could utilise the loan market to sign Powell, who is one of the best players available.

Leeds United

Massimo Cellino has the club in a bit of disarray at the moment and their poor early season form under Rosler saw him sacked and Steve Evans took over.

Under Evans they have enjoyed a recovery and have won 3 games in a row in impressive style and Evans wants to bring players in.

With limited funds available, they will surely look to the loan market and Powell would be a good addition, and would add an element of versatility to the Whites' frontline.
