23-year-old Will Keane has been with Manchester United for nine years, but is still yet to assert himself as a regular in what is a competitive squad.

He has been loaned out to various Championship clubs including Wigan Athletic, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston - and with first team chances at Old Trafford limited he will be desperate to make another temporary move to the second tier of English football.

Most recently, he spent the first half of the season at Deepdale under Simon Grayson's supervision but was only able to score just one goal in 20 league appearances for North End before he was recalled by the Red Devils.

However any chances of a loan depend on whether the youngster can recover from a groin injury that he picked up in the FA Cup win at Shrewsbury.

Keane, who came on as a substitute in the game against the Shropshire-based side, appeared to overstretch to reach the ball and now requires surgery to help alleviate the pain.

The 23-year-old's loan plans could as a result be scuppered as the surgery may force him to be on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

Should Keane make a full recovery, then he will be hoping to exit Old Trafford on a temporary basis.

Preston North End

He's already been there once this season before his loan was cut dramatically short at the insistence of United boss Louis Van Gaal.

If he was given the chance to go back to Lancashire, he could easily slot back into Grayson's plans and help the club achieve a high finish.

Preston's attacking line-up is fairly underrated and Keane would certainly help to complement the likes of Joe Garner and Paul Gallagher - just like he did in his original loan spell.

Going back to a former club is always an easy move for a player and if Keane were able to make the move back to Deepdale I think it would be very productive for him, Preston and also Manchester United.

Charlton Athletic

Jose Riga's Charlton visit Brentford today (3pm kick-off)

They're rock-bottom and in desperate need of some inspiration if they are going to avoid a return to League One.

Yaya Sanogo has come in on loan from Arsenal to try and get things going at the Valley but with the Addicks seven points off safety with only 12 games remaining it's getting more and more bleak.

Keane has the potential to be a star and for Manchester United's under-21's he recently scored five in one game against Norwich's under-21 side.

This shows that he is capable of finding the back of the net and with Charlton only scoring 30 goals all season they would welcome Keane's arrival for the remainder of the season.

Bolton Wanderers

The Trotters, like Charlton, are also in turmoil and face being relegated to the third tier of English football for the first time since 1993.

Like the Addicks they are also seven points adrift and are favourites to go down with the London club when the season ends in May.

Financially, Bolton are also in dire straits and were therefore unable to make transfers during the January window.

They can still however make loan signings and Keane's arrival on loan would certainly help them to score some goals to potentially survive.

With not enough games to go Bolton could take a gamble on Keane if he recovers from his injury and is fit and raring to help the club make the great escape.

Rotherham United

Rotherham were lucky to avoid a straight return to League One last season and they're on the verge of getting relegated this time around, if they don't start to pick up more wins.

Neil Warnock has come in to try and use his Championship expertise to stave off relegation, and managed to get his first win as gaffer in Saturday's 2-1 triumph over Brentford.

With Matt Derbyshire and journeyman Leon Best currently leading the line for the Millers, Keane could easily come in to give Warnock another option in attack.

He showed that he was a handy player to have in the team during his time at Preston and proved his goalscoring prowess for Manchester United's under-21's so he is definitely worth a punt if he can get injury-free.

Huddersfield Town

Nakhi Wells has been pivotal this season in ensuring that the Terriers are likely to avoid relegation to League One, despite being in the bottom three after 18 games this campaign.

They're currently 17th in the league and ten clear of Rotherham and unless the Terriers experience a dramatic loss of form they should be safe for another shot at the Championship next season

Wells has scored 12 goals in the league - seven more than Emyr Huws and Harry Bunn who have scored 5 apiece for the Yorkshire side.

With the club virtually safe, Wagner could start looking for alternative striking solutions by bringing in Keane for the rest of the season.

If he has a good run of games for Huddersfield, then Wagner could be tempted to make a permanent bid for the 23-year-old in the summer.

FLW fans - do you agree with my 5 teams who could take Will Keane on loan for the rest of the season? Are there any other Championship clubs that could benefit from his services?
