Blackburn Rovers have managed to achieve much throughout their history, the pinnacle of which was their Premier League title win in the 90s.

Rovers have had to settle for life back in the Championship over the last few years, with Blackburn even spending time in League One since their relegation from the top flight, as they look to stabilise after dropping out of the top-flight at the end of the 2011/12 season.

Tony Mowbray has managed to stabilise Blackburn on the pitch over the last few seasons, managing to earn promotion back to the Championship in his first year in charge - and keeping them competitive in the division since.

Rovers have some notable celebrities amongst their supporters, who have followed the club through their peak years and continue to keep a keen eye on events at Ewood Park today.

Here then, we take a look at 5 celebs you might not have known support Rovers...

Matt Smith

One of Blackburn's most famous supporters is none other than former Doctor Who star Matt Smith, who played the Doctor between 2009 and 2013

The actor, who has since gone onto star in popular series such as the Crown, has been a Rovers supporter most of his life and has been vocal on the club's ownership in the past, and he will be hoping that Rovers can find their way back to happier times on the field with the club back in the top-flight

Lee Mack

Another famous Rovers supporter is comedian Lee Mack, who has appeared in popular TV shows such as Not Going Out and Would I Lie To You? He was born in Southport, but moved to Blackburn during his youth and started attending matches at Ewood Park during that time.

The comedian is still seen from time to time attending matches at Ewood Park, and he will be hopeful that Rovers will be going out of the Championship and back into the Premier League in the next few years.

Tim Farron

Despite having been born in Preston, former Liberal Democrats leader Tim Farron is an avid supporter of Blackburn Rovers, even appearing on an episode of BBC's Mastermind programme with Rovers being his chosen specialist subject.

Farron resigned as leader of the Liberal Democrats following the 2017 General Election, but he continues to be a prominent MP on the opposition benches, and he will be hopeful Mowbray can lead Blackburn to success from the Ewood Park benches over the next few campaigns.

Stephen Hendry

Another perhaps surprising supporter of Blackburn Rovers is former professional Snooker player Stephen Hendry, who is amongst the greatest players in the sports' history after winning seven World Championships throughout his career.

Hendry has been vocal over his support for Blackburn in the past, and won his fifth World Championship the year Rovers claimed the Premier League title in 1995.

Carl Fogarty

Another avid supporter of Blackburn Rovers is Carl Fogarty, who is one of the most famous World Superbike champions in history, winning four World Championships throughout his career.

Fogarty was born in Blackburn and supports Rovers, once relying on his knowledge of the club during an appearance on BBC's A Question of Sport.
