Cardiff City have made a strong start to the season under Russell Slade, and are looking like serious promotion contenders in the Championship.

The Bluebirds have ex-Premier League experience within their side, and many of their players could easily make a step up to the big time, and play under the lights of the world's media.

The gap between the Championship and the Premier League is getting smaller and smaller each year, and many players who currently play within the Championship have the quality to play for a top Premier League team.

Cardiff's squad is filled with talent which could make the headlines in the top flight of English football, and FLW reporter Bradley Fredericks has gave his opinion, and has selected FIVE players from Cardiff who are destined for the Premier League.

Aron Gunnarsson

Gunnarsson, who joined Cardiff in the summer of 2011, he has been an important part of how Cardiff play since his arrival.

He has played eight games this year for the Bluebirds, and he is known for his tough tackling and his natural ability.

The combative midfielder is only 26-years-old which means he is about to enter his prime years for a midfield player, and there is no reason why he cant spend his golden years in the top-flight of English football, once again.

Fabio Da Silva

Fabio has ex-Premier League experience under his belt, as he used to play under Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson was his boss - you can't really have better experience than that.

So far this season Fabio has played 10 times for his team this season, and in that process he has completed 27 clearances which isn't a bad number for a full back. He has become an important part of Russel Slade's team as they look for promotion this year, and if they achieve it, it will be extremely interesting to see how Fabio plays against the teams he used to face on a regular basis.

Matthew Connolly

The 28-year-old, has been a massive part of Russell Slade's plans this year, and so far he has been irreplaceable for the Bluebirds this year.

He has made a total of 15 appearances and in that time he has made a total of 78 clearances, with an average of five clearances a game, that is a superb stat for a defender in the Championship.

He has also had past playing experience with the Arsenal reserve team, as he used to captain them.

Connolly has the potential to make the Premier League, although the question is will he be able to perform at an consistent level for any team in the top flight?

Kenwyne Jones

The strong centre forward has been a fantastic player for the Bluebirds since his arrival back in January 2014.

He has past playing experience in the Premier League and he has the quality to return there in the near future.

So far this season, he has played a total of 10 games for Cardiff in the league and he has scored two goals, having six shots on target..

The 31-year-old is entering the latter stages of his playing career, although if he times it right, he will be able to play in the best division in the world once again.

David Marshall

David Marshall is one of the most outstanding goalkeepers in the Championship, he has made a noticeable amount of excellent performances since his arrival at the Bluebirds in 2009.

He has played 11 times this year for Cardiff, making 27 saves, which has kept his side in contention to win multiple important matches.

He is 30 years old now, but people say goalkeepers get better with age and I certainly believe that, he could easily make the step up to the Premier League once again, and if he does he will make a difference to whoever he plays for.
