Things haven't quite been going the way Blackburn Rovers would have wanted them to at the minute.

A run of just one win from their last 18 games has seen Tony Mowbray's side slide down the Championship table, leaving them some way adrift of the play-off places they were hoping to target this season.

That is something that could be a worry for Blackburn with the January transfer window moving into view, since it could make keeping hold of some of their best players even harder.

But while such departures would be a blow in the footballing sense, they could at least benefit the club financially, considering the money it could potentially bring into the club.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at five players who could at some time or another, serve to bring millions of pounds into Blackburn.

It was inevitable that Bradley Dack was going to form part of this list, wasn't it?

Almost since he joined the club in the summer of 2017, Dack's influence in terms of goals, assists and all-round play means that he has been catching the eye, with West Ham and Crystal Palace among those to have been credited with an interest in the Blackburn talisman during the course of the most recent summer transfer window.

Given his influence however, it is no surprise that Rovers are in no mood to let him go easily, and with a price tag of £18million apparently putting the London-based Premier League duo off a move for Dack, it seems as though it will have to take something big to prise Dack away from Ewood Park anytime soon.

Another player who, perhaps not surprisingly, appears to be drawing admiring glances from the Premier League, is Darragh Lenihan.

It was claimed during the summer transfer window that newly promoted Sheffield United were keen on the Irishman, but that the Blades could have been put off by Rovers' asking price, something which may well have been the case given the 25-year-old is still at Ewood Park at this moment in time.

With Lenihan's current contract at Ewood Park not set to expire until the summer of 2022, there is no reason for Blackburn to consider selling him anytime soon, particularly when you consider how important his ability makes him in what is in an otherwise problematic position for Tony Mowbray's side, meaning it will surely have to take something big, to tempt Rovers to part company with one of their key assets.

Another player who is fast becoming a vital cog in this Blackburn side, is Lewis Travis.

Since being handed his first real run in the side at the start of 2019, Travis has hardly looked back, with his vast array of passing and tackling arguably making him the club's most effective operator in the centre of the park, meaning it may not be long until he too is being linked with moves away from the club on a regular basis.

If that does prove to be the case, then the business done by Rovers earlier in the season - when they secured the 22-year-old on a contract through to the summer of 2023 - will certainly have been a smart move, since it means any club who wants the midfielder will surely have to pay big money if they are to get him.

Looking further forward, another player who could soon find himself with a high price tag being put on his head by Blackburn, is John Buckley.

This season has very much been a breakthrough one for the Blackburn academy graduate, who having only turned 20 last month, has made himself a regular in the matchday squad for Rovers, with the midfielder making a total of eight league appearances, and scoring his first senior goal with that dramatic late winner at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

That Buckley is being handed these opportunities at this early age appears to show just how highly Mowbray rates him, and if he can continue to demonstrate that potential and progress over the next few seasons, then he too may soon be attracting interest from some of those further up the football pyramid.

Not far behind Buckley in the race to make the step up to Rovers' senior side from their academy ranks, comes Joe Rankin-Costello.

Although he has yet to get on the pitch in a league game for Blackburn this season, Rankin-Costello has been named in a Championship matchday squad on five occasions, and was handed a run out from the bench in the Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield United at the end of August following an eye-catching pre-season with the senior side.

With the 20-year-old also continuing to impress for the club's Under 23s this season, it may not be long until he is given that chance in the Championship, where his ability - which thanks to his versatility can be exploited in both defence and midfield - could eventually see him too attract the attention of others.
