With the latest international break coming to an end, clubs are turning their attention to the resumption of a full league programme in the EFL this coming weekend.

Here though we look at five of the biggest EFL stories from the weekend.......

Liverpool are targeting a £20 million move for Brighton centre-back Ben White as a replacement for Dejan Lovren, it is reported in The Sun, having been impressed with White's performances during his loan spell at Leeds United.

The centre-back has emerged as one of the stars of the new Championship season and was voted player of the month for August by supporters, having moved to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal this summer and has made 11 appearances for the club so far this season.

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson is considering a second bid to take Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to Ashton Gate, after the 20-year-old has endured a tough start to the season on-loan at Leeds United having failed to break into the starting XI at Elland Road, it is reported in The Sun.

Johnson tried to land Nketiah in the summer, before the 20-year-old chose to move to the Whites, but with the Robins looking to strengthen their squad in an effort to maintain their promotion push a return for the Arsenal youngster is not out of the question.

Sunderland to hold talks with former Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson, as they look to take advantage of the international break and make a permanent appointment to replace Jack Ross who was sacked last week, it is reported in The Sun.

Parkinson, 51, is a free agent having resigned as manager of Bolton Wanderers in August 2019, having previously spent spells in charge at Colchester United, Hull City, Charlton Athletic and Bradford City.

Millwall have made an approach to Wycombe Wanderers as they look to appoint a permanent manager following the departure of club legend Neil Harris last week, as reported on Sky Sports.

Ainsworth is on a list of candidates that includes out of work former Stoke City manager Gary Rowett, while former player Tim Cahill is also being considered it is understood.

Reading's sporting director Mark Bowen has been appointed as the new manager of the Championship club, it has been confirmed on the club website.

Bowen, 55, has spent most of his coaching career working under Mark Hughes, most recently at Southampton with the former Norwich City, West Ham and Wales full-back replacing Jose Gomes, who was sacked last week after less than 10 months in charge.
