Leeds United are moving in the right direction on the pitch under the guidance of manager Marcelo Bielsa, but that progress is to be matched off the pitch, according to Whites managing director Angus Kinnear who laid out the club's plans to boost the capacity of Elland Road to 50,000.

Kinnear announced the plans as part of a speech at a civic reception hosted by the Lord Mayor to celebrate the club's 100th birthday that: “In our centenary year we’re very proud to announce a partnership with the council on two initiatives,” he said, “They fall under the title of Vision Elland Road. You notice that is a far cry from the Beeston we see today," adding “Part of it is around the stadium and taking our stadium up to 50,000 and turning it into a true ground which can compete with other stadiums in the Premier League and in Europe.”

League One side Sunderland have appointed ex-Bolton boss Phil Parkinson as their new manager, with the 51-year-old replacing Jack Ross, who was sacked by the Black Cats last week after winning five of their first 11 league games of the campaign.

Parkinson spent three years in charge of Bolton, winning promotion to the Championship in his first season but he resigned as manager back in August, with Wanderers bottom of League One after being deducted 12 points.

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic will feel confident returning to action following the international break, with his side top of the Championship, but the 51-year-old has an eye for the future with the Baggies looking to offer highly rated defender Nathan Ferguson a new five-year-deal, amid interest from the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest and Leeds United look like they will go head-to-head, as both clubs look to sign Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour on loan in January, after the 18-year-old broke into the first team at Stamford Bridge this season under Frank Lampard.

Barnsley continue to search for a new permanent manager and it seems the board will not be rushed into an appointment, with Andy Giddings the sports editor at BBC Sheffield confirming on Twitter that 'Contrary to online reports, Understand the #barnsleyfc board have met potential candidates for their managers position. They are conducting a Europe wide search. I’m told they won’t rush any decision in pursuit of finding best person for the job.'
