The weekend is nearly upon us with EFL clubs involved in a handful of league fixtures plus clubs also in FA Cup Fourth Round action, but before it all gets underway, here we look at the five biggest EFL news stories of the day.......

Leeds United are tracking Red Bull Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin as they enter the last week of the January transfer window, according to a report by Phil Hay of The Athletic.

Augustin is currently on a season-long loan at AS Monaco, but Leeds will attempt to move for the Frenchman if the Ligue 1 outfit cut short the loan before next Friday’s transfer deadline.

Tyrese Campbell has decided his future lies at Stoke City under Michael O'Neill, rejecting the approaches from both Rangers and Celtic, a move that paves the way for Campbell to sign a new, improved contract in the next 24 hours after constructive talks over the last few days, according to Sky Sport Transfer Centre.

Previously the 20-year-old striker has consistently refused to extend his deal despite several offers from Stoke, but with his current contract expiring this summer, it looks like he has finally decided his future lies at the bet365 Stadium.

West Ham United winger Grady Diangana will stay on loan at West Brom until the summer, after the two clubs reached an agreement, it has been confirmed on the Baggies club website.

Following speculation that the Hammers might recall him in January, Diangana, 21, will now see out the original season-long deal he signed in August.

Bristol City may be on the look-out for a striker but the club also want to make defensive reinforcements with Leicester City centre-back Filip Benkovic a loan target, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Leicester want the 22-year-old to leave temporarily and earn first-team minutes in the second-half of the season as he has played just four times this season for the Premier League side, however for any deal to happen it requires Southampton to sanction the sale of centre-back Jannik Vestergaard to the King Power Stadium.

Sheffield United defender Kean Bryan could be set for a move to Charlton Athletic or Huddersfield Town with Blades boss Chris Wilder open to allowing his departure, according to Football Insider.

The Championship duo are both looking to add defensive reinforcements to aid their chances of steering themselves away from the relegation zone.
