Middlesbrough are renowned for having an excellent youth academy, and have been producing Premier League stars as well as players who have played for their country.

Such players like Stewart Downing, Adam Johnson, Chris Brunt, James Morrison to name but a few have been produced by the famed academy, and are one of the few Grade 1 categories in the Championship.

Many academy players feature for the first team, like this season Ben Gibson is an academy product and perhaps one of the best centre backs in the league.

Players like Gibson and Adam Reach have all been given starts by the England youth teams and there are a plentiful supply of Middlesbrough teenagers currently playing in the youth ranks at Middlesbrough.

Currently Middlesbrough’s U19’s are playing in the Euroleague and have so far been very impressive eliminating French Champions Reims and have a commanding 3-0 first leg lead over Italian champions Torino.

Middlesbrough have also taken advantage of there location by loaning players out to lower league North East clubs like Hartlepool.

Dave Parnaby has been doing a wonderful job as manager of the youth team whilst chairman Steve Gibson has pumped a lot of money into Middlesbrough’s youth system, attested by Middlesbrough’s state of the art Rockcliffe park which the England National Team have trained at.
