Barnsley finally announced the appointment of their new head coach on Wednesday, six weeks after sacking Daniel Stendel.

The Tykes formally announced that Gerhard Struber will take the reigns at Oakwell and will be in charge for the trip to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Barnsley are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table and have not won since the opening day but with this appointment the club will finally feel they kick on their campaign for Championship survival.

The club currently have a number of younger talents who make the Barnsley starting XI and should the club retain their Championship status some may catch the eye of bigger clubs.

Here we take a look at five Barnsley players who could be worth millions in the future...

Chaplin arrived at Oakwell over the summer from Coventry City on a four-year-deal and has so far managed one league goal in 14 appearances for the Tykes.

His versatility has seen him play out on the wings, in attacking midfield and even up-front for the Reds, and he has already chipped in with two assists for the side this season.

Should Struber get the 22-year-old firing it wouldn't be a surprise if other Championship sides begin to take notice of the former Portsmouth attacker.

With only being a year into a long-term contract, should Chaplin catch the eye of another club, Barnsley would arguably command a high fee for the player.

Jacob Brown has featured in Barnsley's last 10 league games, and scored in the 2-1 defeat away to Huddersfield in October.

The winger featured 32 times for Barnsley last term chipping in with eight goals and six assist and he can play both left or right side of the midfield.

At only 21, Brown posses great pace and an ability to beat his man, should he keep up these performances and add to his goal-scoring tally he may be on the radar for a host of clubs in the future.

Should Brown move to a bigger club and impress there it is highly likely that three or four years down the line the winger could be worth a large sum of money.

20-year-old left-back Ben Williams has featured eight times for Barnsley so far this term and that could have been more but for a suspension keeping him out for three games in September.

The defender is part of Wales' under-21 squad and will be hoping to win back his place in the Barnsley side under Struber.

Williams has also turned out for Blackburn Rovers under-18s in the under-18s Premier League and his willingness to get forward but also be a competent defender could attract future interest.

If he keeps up his involvement with the Welsh squads then a selling club could factor this in and command a higher price full-back.

Jordan Williams is another full-back in the Barnsley side who has turned out for his national side at under-18s and 19s level.

He has so far this season featured five times for the Reds but with a new manager coming in he could look to opt for youthfulness in the coming games.

Williams contract currently runs until 2022 and should the right-back impress at the club over the next season or two he could be on the end of a new deal.

If this is to be the case the Reds' could command a higher transfer fee in future seasons.

Woodrow has probably been Barnsley's stand-out man this term and has netter six goals in 13 games so far.

At only 24, Woodrow already has 145 first-team appearances under his belt, including six in the Premier League.

If his goals cannot save Barnsley this term then it would be likely that he could leave Oakwell in the summer and if a Championship club came in for him the Reds would rightly hold out for a big fee.

A lot of this would depend on how many goals Woodrow ends up and if he scores a respectable amount.
