Sheffield United took a huge step towards the Premier League as they beat Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday.

Chris Basham's well struck effort proved to be the difference between the two sides on the day, and the result sees the Blades moved ahead of Leeds in the league table.

Basham is the subject of our FLW Spotlight this week, so we look into his performance in more detail.

You have to take Basham's statistics from the game with a pinch of salt, bare in mind that he played in an unfamiliar central midfield role.

He is primarily a central defender, but impressed in his makeshift role against their promotion rivals at Elland Road.

Basham had two shots in total, and scored the all-important winner on the day to give the Blades a real chance in finishing inside the top two this season.

He made 22 passes in total, but with a 45.5 pass success rate, it was clear to see that Leeds' high-pressing style of play had an impact on the success rate of his passing.

But his defensive qualities were there for all to see, with Basham making four interceptions from midfield which nullified the threat posed by the likes of Tyler Roberts and Mateusz Klich on the day.

He also won five aerial duels which certainly makes for impressive reading, against a Leeds side that have dominated teams this season.

But Basham played a starring role in the win and will be keen to build on this impressive display as the season heads towards a conclusion.

It's unlikely that we'll see him deployed as a makeshift midfielder again this season, but Chris Wilder is sure to be pleased with Basham giving him a potential selection dilemma in that position when needed.
