The last few years have been ones to forget for Notts County fans.

After a relegation from League One after 4 seasons from being promoted into it, they have had 9 different managers.

Last season started off with optimism, former 1860 Munich manager Ricardo Moniz initiated a complete Summer overhaul, inheriting 18 new players by the end of the summer transfer window, after he could not avoid relegation to League Two after being appointed in April 2015.

These players could not avoid, however, a 17th placed finish by the end of the 2015/16 campaign, after having Moniz, ex-Bolton under 21 manager Jamie Fullarton, and ex-Swindon boss Mark Cooper all relieved of their duties.

So in came Oldham manager John Sheridan, the Magpies showing a impressive statement of intent by paying off a huge amount of compensation for Sheridan and giving him a very competitive budget to dramatically improve the squad, that consisted of Alan Smith, Roy Carroll, and Jon Stead, for the 2016/17 season.

And with the additions of Port Vale captain Carl Dickinson, Oldham's talisman Jonathan Forte, Alex Rodman, Michael O'Connor, Adam Collin, Richard Duffy and Matt Tootle, Notts look very strong favourites for promotion this year.

Here, however, Football League World writer George Harbey suggests FIVE players that the Magpies will have to bring in, in order to cement their promotion push this campaign....

Reuben Reid

With 31 goals in 83 games for Plymouth Argyle under his belt, it still comes a great shock as to how the striker is still a free agent with just a few days before the 16/17 campaign begins.

The 28 year old flourished under Sheridan in his tenure at Home Park, netting 18 times in the 14/15 campaign where the Greens came agonisingly close to promotion via the playoffs.

And with the under performing Izale McLeod set to be on his way away from Meadow Lane, Vadaine Oliver, Jon Stead, and Jonathan Forte remain the only senior forwards at the club, and Reid would fit perfectly into that group, having performed so well under the Magpies boss before.

Tareiq Holmes-Dennis

Another player who was influential in the 14/15 campaign for Sheridan at Argyle, the left back would be a creditable acquisition for the Magpies.

With his ability to play left wing back, Holmes-Dennis has worked very closely with Sheridan at his former club Oldham Athletic, where the 20 year old is loan at.

Jordan Moore-Taylor

On the other side of defence is Jordan Moore-Taylor, who would be perfect in the right wing back hole.

Making 94 appearances for the Grecians', the 22-year-old would be a fantastic acquisition on the right flank, and would add to an extremely experienced Magpies team, having captained Exeter for some stages of last term.

Omar Bogle

Having lost out on target Jordan Bowery for Leyton Orient, the Grimsby talisman would be a shrewd replacement for Bowery as well as the departing McLeod.

Known for his pace, diversity, strength and link-up play, the man who spearheaded Grimsby Town back into the Football League, along with Padraig Amond, would complete a Notts County forward line oozing with class.

So...What do you think Notts fans? Are you disappointed to see McLeod leave, if he does? Would you agree with these 5 players? Where will Notts finish this year? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
