Queens Park Rangers go into tonight’s visit to Bramall Lane to take on play-off chasing Sheffield United full of confidence after a 2-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

Ian Holloway’s side saw off Phil Parkinson’s strugglers to record a win that moves them up to 15th place, eleven points away from the drop zone which should make them safe.

A defeat would have moved Wanderers within three points of the R’s, who can now start looking up the league table and rest reasonably assured that they will still be in the second tier next season.

It will be a tough battle against a Sheffield United side who can focus solely on the league now after being knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend by Leicester and Chris Wilder’s side have also had an extra day to prepare as that fifth round defeat at the King Power Stadium came on Friday night.

The two sides should match each other up in their 3-5-2 formations and we’ve taken a closer look at how Holloway should line up for tonight’s game…

Smithies is one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Championship and is capable of heroics at times.

Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke will have to bring their shooting boosts to beat the R’s keeper, who comes into this one on the back of a clean sheet against Bolton at the weekend.

Lynch scored the opener at the weekend and in the aftermath of that match against Bolton, warned against ruling QPR out of the race for the play-offs.

I think that’s a little overambitious to say the least but QPR need him to take that confidence into this game and if they were to beat the Blades, it would be a real statement.

The former Manchester City and Sunderland man has the physicality to match the Blades’ aggressive front two and will be key if QPR are to come away from Bramall Lane with a result.

His battle with Leon Clarke should be a good one and the winner will have a big impact on who ultimately wins the match.

Robinson will need to ensure the space between himself and Jake Bidwell never gets so big that the home side can exploit it and he will also have to look out for the runs of Mark Duffy from deep.

Sheffield United never offer a moment’s peace on their own patch and that requires concentration across the back line and Robinson is no exception.

Wszolek performed impressively in the weekend win over Bolton and although opposite number Enda Stevens is a reliable performer, I think the Pole can use his energy to ensure that the R’s get the edge in that particular battle.

He should have a good target for his deliveries in the shape of Matt Smith and that could be another source of joy for Ian Holloway’s men.

Holloway has an industrious midfield three at his disposal and I think the energy of Scowen will be key to matching Mark Duffy’s bursts from deep so the former Barnsley man will need to be on his toes here.

He can provide the platform for Freeman and Luongo to cause their hosts trouble which makes him vital here.

It will be a frantic battle between two packed midfields tonight but Freeman and his midfield colleague Luongo have the quality to get on the ball and pick out a pass or two.

John Fleck and Lee Evans represent tough opponents who will never shirk a challenge but if Freeman can match that, he could have an impact.

Luongo will arguably be the classiest midfielder on show here, with the ability to unlock the home defence and swing the game in his side’s favour.

If he can escape from the relentless pressure and aggressive tackling of the Blades midfield, he’s a dangerman, no doubt about it and it’s also about how often QPR can get him onto the ball.

Bidwell’s opposite number here should be George Baldock and the pair are solid, reliable performers.

The left-wing-back will have Matt Smith to aim for in the centre and that kind of focal point is always handy on the road.

Northern Irishman Paul Smyth played the last 25 minutes against Bolton and picked up an assist but it would be a tough night for the youngster up against the Blades’ experienced backline.

Washington has the ability to trouble the home defence, working off Matt Smith and should be full of confidence after grabbing a goal in QPR’s last away match against table-toppers Wolves.

I can see this being a physical battle with little room to breathe for either side and that is a perfect match for towering target man Smith.

He netted the second goal at the weekend and will relish the battle up against United’s three centre halves, who are each physical, aggressive defenders.
