Reading fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Leeds United on Tuesday evening in a game where the Royals were second best from start to finish.

Mateusz Klich opened the scoring on the night, before Pablo Hernandez netted a stunning brace to all but secure the points before half-time.

The win saw the Whites return to the top of the Championship table, with Norwich City not due to play their game in hand against Hull City until this evening.

Reading boss, Jose Gomes was full of praise for Marcelo Bielsa's side in a post-match press conference (quotes sourced from Phil Hay) and labelled Leeds as one of the strongest teams offensively in the Championship.

"They are maybe the strongest offensively in this league. Very good movement, intensity, very fast movement between all the players."

Leeds have looked like a completely different team this season under Bielsa's management and they're showing no signs of letting up anytime soon.

They take on promotion rivals, Sheffield United this weekend at Elland Road, in a game which could decide where they finish in the league table this season.

But you have to feel that a win would all but secure a long-awaited return to the Premier League for the Yorkshire-based side.

The Verdict:

Gomes is spot on with his comments here.

Leeds weren't at their best on the night, but they still swept Reading aside in a ruthless manner at the Madejski Stadium.

I find it hard to believe that they won't achieve promotion to the Premier League this season with Marcelo Bielsa in charge.
