What a season it has been for Stoke City, dropping from heavy favourites to lift the second-tier title to near disaster.

Under Gary Rowett, the Potters brought in a host of exciting talent but simply could not click, rapidly sinking towards the relegation zone.

In January, he was sacked and Nathan Jones was brought in from Luton Town to try and rescue the situation.

He brought in two new faces in the January window with Danny Batth arriving from Wolves to help their defence, whilst Sam Vokes was signed from Burnley for just over £7million.

At the time, it looked like a good move, if a tad expensive. Stoke’s strikers simply were not firing at all and bringing someone in to solve that was a must.

But is has not worked out at all for Vokes so far, with the 29-year-old rapidly beginning to look like a significant waste of money.

Although one goal in six matches is an improvement on previous forwards, it is still no where near enough for where the Potters want to be.

Averaging just two shots per game points to a striker who is already low on confidence whilst and average pass success of 48% signals somebody who has not settled in the team at all.

Having paid so much for him, it is unlikely that Jones will want to get rid of him so soon, but improvements will surely need to be seen.
