Paul Tisdale is set to be named as the new manager of Bristol Rovers, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Rovers are on the lookout for a new manager after parting company with Ben Garner at the weekend, following a 4-1 home defeat to Fleetwood Town.

The Gas - who sit 18th in the Sky Bet League One table - have picked up only three wins from their first 11 league games, and sit only three points clear of the relegation zone.

According to Pete O'Rourke, former Exeter City and MK Dons manager Paul Tisdale is set to replace Garner at the Memorial Stadium.

Tisdale spent 12 years in charge of Exeter between 2006 and 2018, winning 241 out of 626 matches at the helm of the Grecians.

The 47-year-old then guided MK Dons to automatic promotion from League Two in 2018/19, but was relieved of his duties last November following a poor start to life back in League One.

The Verdict

This seems to be a smart appointment for Bristol Rovers.

The Ben Garner experiment didn't really work out, and I think they now need to bring in a manager who subsequently brings stability on and off the pitch.

Tisdale spent a huge amount of time at Exeter and was successful during his brief stint in charge of MK Dons, but they struggled in League One last term.

He will be keen to make amends and guide Rovers up the league table as quickly as possible. They have some very talented players on the books.
