Middlesbrough will finish the 2018/19 campaign in the Championship’s top-six as a minimum, according to Ipswich Town boss, Paul Hurst.

Ahead of tomorrow night’s clash between Ipswich and Boro, Hurst has delivered his verdict on the Teessiders, claiming that he is fully expecting to see Tony Pulis’ side competing for promotion this season.

Speaking to Ipswich’s official media, the 44-year-old said: “Boro will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season with the squad they have. I don’t see anything less from them than the play-offs.”

It’s been a fine start to the season for Boro, who sit third in the table after 10 fixtures.

Pulis’ side have tasted defeat on just one occasion, although they head to Portman Road on the back of a disappointing draw with Hull City at the weekend.

That result allowed West Brom to move to the top of the Championship table ahead of the midweek fixtures.

Whilst it’s been a strong start from Boro, Ipswich are the only team left in the Championship without a victory to their name.

Hurst’s side have drawn six of their opening 10 fixtures, including Saturday’s clash with Birmingham City.

Despite leading the Blues 2-0, Ipswich were held to a 2-2 draw.

The Verdict

Middlesbrough’s start to the season has been very good, with Pulis’ side amongst the Championship’s most consistent sides.

Defensively, Boro are so strong, and if they can maintain that, they will be well in contention for promotion.

After 10 games, it’s safe to say that Boro should be at least play-off contenders.
