Wind back to the start of this season in the Football League and you get a typically very different picture.

Leeds were top of the Championship, Brentford were threatening to drop into League One and Notts County and Exeter looked like the runaway League Two title rivals.

Things, of course, naturally change, but few clubs have undergone quite the turnaround Plymouth Argyle have in the course of this season.

The Pilgrims looked destined to return to League Two as quick as they came up but, thanks to a resilient and talented squad and a manager in Derek Adams who stuck by his methods, another promotion is now possible:

Such has been Adams' and the Green Army's transformation this year, the form at the start of the campaign has ended up being the anomaly - truly, this is a team good enough to get into the Championship.

With Graham Carey and Ruben Lameiras providing the quality going forward and Sonny Bradley and co. marshalling things at the back, if Plymouth make the play-offs they'll be a formidable opponent for whoever they meet.

Of course, the Pilgrims are outside the top six right now but, with the way this season has gone, Adams and co. will now know anything is possible.
