Sheffield Wednesday have approached Vladimir Ivic regarding the managerial vacancy at Hillsborough, but there are doubts around him taking the job due to the instability surrounding the Owls at this moment in time.

Garry Monk started the season as Wednesday boss and looking to lead the club back from an off-season point deduction. However, he lost his job and was replaced by Tony Pulis, who lasted only 10 fixtures before Dejphon Chansiri pulled the trigger.

The Athletic confirm how Ivic has been approached about taking over at Wednesday, as their search for a new manager continues.

The ultimate 2021 Sheffield Wednesday quiz – Can you get 24/24 correct?

Ivic, 43, is not long out of management in the Championship, having lost his job at Watford on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town back in December.

He is keen on a return to management, according to The Athleticbut has his reservations about the job at Hillsborough.

Wednesday's instability is underlined as a concern, as the club flirt with dropping into League One and with Chansiri clearly lacking patience.

Currently, the Owls sit 21st in the Championship table, out of the relegation zone on only goal difference having accumulated 19 points. That's the same as Rotherham United and Derby County at this stage.

The Verdict

The Wednesday job is a difficult one.

Chansiri is clearly losing a lot of patience and feeling the heat given Wednesday's relegation battle; a few bad results and would Ivic get the boot like Pulis?

It's not appealing really, particularly having just left another trigger happy club in Watford.
