Former Celtic striker and BT Sport pundit John Hartson has valued Swansea City winger Dan James at a price of around £20million, after his impressive performance against Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The electric winger was at his best against the Premier League champions at the weekend, and caused Pep Guardiola's men some real problems throughout.

The Welshman was a nightmare down the flanks with his magnificent pace, and set up Bersant Celina's goal which put the Swans into a remarkable 2-0 lead before the break.

City did fight back and advanced into the semi-finals after a majestic second-half display, but there is no denying that it was a gutsy performance from Graham Potter's men, and an even better one by James.

After the game, BT Sport pundit Hartson valued the youngster at a price of around £20million, after a fabulous performance at the weekend.

He said to Potter after the game, via reports from Wales Online: "We singled James out before the match, his pace, how he's been playing this season in particular, £10million to Leeds, it was almost over the line, and you brought him back, he must be worth double that now?"

James was linked with a move to Leeds United for the entirety of the January transfer window, and even had a medical at Elland Road before the deal broke down in the final stages of deadline day.

With their hopes of an automatic promotion place hanging by a thread after losing to Sheffield United at the weekend, Marcelo Bielsa's men could really do with James' pace and energy right now.

The Verdict

It's a very bold claim by Hartson, as £20million is a lucrative price tag for such a young player.

Although I don't think James is worth that much, I still think you're looking at double figures for the winger, as it looks like he has a very impressive future ahead of him.

His performance against City was spectacular, and it must make Leeds fans feel sick to the stomach that they missed out on him in January.
