Pep Clotet has issued a message ahead of Birmingham City’s clash with Leeds United tomorrow, describing Leeds as a special place but insisting his focus is on helping the Blues to a positive result.

Leeds welcome Clotet and Garry Monk back to Elland Road tomorrow, with the duo previously spending the 2016/17 campaign with the Whites.

Monk, working alongside his assistant Clotet, led Leeds to seventh in the Championship, with the Whites narrowly missing out on a place in the play-offs.

Clotet, 41, is yet to return to Elland Road since departing, whilst it will be Monk’s second trip back to West Yorkshire.

Ahead of his return to Leeds, Clotet has delivered a message on Twitter, admitting the city remains special to him, but also that he is focused on helping his Birmingham side pick up a positive result:

Leeds head into the contest still unbeaten in the Championship, with the Whites having 18 points to their name from the 24 that have been available so far.

Birmingham’s start has been a stark contrast, with the Blues not winning yet this season.

Monk’s side have been beaten just twice, though, drawing on six occasions, including their last four fixtures.

The Verdict

Clotet was at Leeds during a good season, with the Whites challenging for the play-offs when Monk was head-coach.

There was a good bond between everyone at the club during that time.

However, it’s good to see that Clotet is focused on Birmingham, who could desperately do with a win at Elland Road tomorrow.
