Under Gary Rowett, it seems there are really bright days ahead for Birmingham City in this season's Championship.

The Blues bagged another three points in last weekend's crunch tie with struggling Blackburn Rovers, thanks to a single Steven Gleeson strike that came in the second half.

Birmingham seem to have created the uncanny ability to grind out results when some of their rivals are beginning to lose here and there and that is a fantastic trait to have.

The Blues are the only team to have lost just once so far this campaign and going into the international break, they sit in an impressive sixth place in the table.

But ahead of their continued push for promotion, it seems that Blues need to add just a couple of names to the ranks come January if they are to keep the pace.

We saw a horrendous post-Christmas slump last season and with that hoping to remain more of a memory this time around, we want to take a look at some potential signings come the winter window.

So with that in mind, here's FOUR transfers Birmingham City can't afford to miss out on in January.....

Lukas Jutkiewicz

Lukas Jutkiewicz

Birmingham already have the Burnley man on-loan until January, but this is a deal that manager Gary Rowett must try and extend or make permanent if possible.

It's pretty clear that Jutkiewicz hasn't got much of a first-team future at the Clarets and for Birmingham, he's been excellent.

In the absence of Clayton Donaldson, he's really stepped up and has scored twice already this campaign.

Omar Bogle

As non-league gems go, you're not going to find many better strikers than Omar Bogle, who looks set to be another player who just keeps rising through the divisions.

After being released from Birmingham's academy back in 2011, he signed for non-league Hinckley before joining Solihull Moors.

A move to Grimsby Town then followed, and he's become a true fan favourite a Gresty Road for his ability to hold-up the ball and score fantastic goals.

Many have tipped him for a Championship move this summer and Blues should throw their hat in too- he'd be a quality addition.

Emilio Izaguirre

Quite a tough one to imagine happening, but not entirely unrealistic in the slightest.

Honduran international Emilio Izaguirre is a man that has begun to fade at Celtic Park due to the form being shown by young Kieran Tierney. And whilst his first-team opportunities fade, he might be thinking at a loan move to kickstart his career.

Birmingham have Rhoys Wiggins on-loan until January but when that deal expires, it will just be Jonathan Grounds available for selection once again. Izaguirre would be a fantastic option to compete with him for a first-team berth.

Conor McAleny

Conor McAleny

Everton youngster Conor McAleny has plenty of fans but right now, he's just not getting enough time in the first-team fold to warrant permanent game time.

He spent time on-loan at Wigan last season and did well, dispatching four times in a 13 game spell. You get the sense if Birmingham can't keep hold of Lukas Jutkiewicz, they'll probably need to look elsewhere and McAleny is a fantastic option for a loan deal.

Young, energetic and ready to learn.
