Wolves face a stern test ahead in the second-half of the Championship season as they currently sit just two points above the bottom three, although standing ten points behind the play-off spots leaves the door ajar for a charge for promotion.

To achieve a major turnaround in the club's form, Wolves need big names in January and eyeing moves for top-flight outcasts would be ideal, as proven players would significantly bolster the ability within Paul Lambert's squad.

Things will still be difficult though as Wolves have the rest of the Championship to contend with, although the promise of regular football at Molineux could prove to be the ultimate bargain chip for Lambert and the club could reap the rewards.

Wolves should definitely go down the route of securing players from the top-flight and these FOUR potential recruits in January should be watched closely, as they're currently outcasts in the Premier League.

Chuba Akpom

The young Arsenal forward saw his chance of pushing into the first-team halted by an early season injury and things look bleak for the striker, who now faces competition with Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez - all of whom have shone recently.

At the age of 21, Akpom is yet to make his Premier League bow for the Gunners and a loan move in January seems likely.

As a bonus, Akpom's position within Arsene Wenger's squad opens the door for Wolves to land a permanent deal further down the line.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Another potential loanee from one of the Premier League's biggest sides, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has often looked to be on the breakthrough of regular first-team football at Chelsea before seeing the chance slip away.

As one of a rare breed with the Blues who hasn't gone away on loan, the 20-year-old would benefit from such a move.

With a handful of Premier League appearances under his belt and being a regular for England's U21 side, Loftus-Cheek would prove to be a strong acquisition for Wolves in January and his ability would certainly increase Lambert's squad.

Jerome Sinclair

Signing for Watford in the summer, Jerome Sinclair has just one Premier League appearance to his name with the Hornets and saw a late loan move to Norwich City collapse in August- which all adds up to the likelihood that his services will be available come January.

Previous one of the most highly-rated youngsters amongst Liverpool's ranks, Sinclair would prove to be a vital asset to Wolves and would significantly bolster the attack at Molineux.

Contending with other Championship sides for his signature would be a struggle but Wolves have enough to offer to secure a deal.

Bartosz Kapustka

Another summer signing in the Premier League who hasn't quite had things his own way, Leicester City aren't exactly in the position to hand chances to youngster Kapustka.

However, it's clear the young Polish international needs regular football.

A loan move in January could help him massively in his development and his performances at Euro 2016 show he could tear the Championship apart.

If Wolves secure his services, they'd have a tremendous boost in their quest for promotion and the shrewd acquisition could be the signing of the mid-season window.
