Nottingham Forest are probably one of the most inconsistent clubs you could find outside of the top flight at the moment.

Two solid victories over Barnsley and Newcastle United were followed up at the weekend with an embarrassing hammering at the hands of local rivals Derby.

Forest are set to be taken over in the coming weeks, and their fans will be hoping for some cash to be splashed in the January transfer window.

With Henri Lansbury and Brit Assombalonga missing at the weekend, it highlighted the need for the Reds to strengthen in the window.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at FOUR Premier League outcasts who Nottingham Forest should keep an eye on…

Peter Crouch

Stoke striker Crouch is still an active member of the squad at the Britannia, but he is not the force he once was in terms of commanding a first team spot.

A move to Forest could suit everyone, as Crouch definitely still has plenty to offer.

His height and general experience could cause real problems in the Championship, and he would be a shrewd signing for Forest.

Jordan Mutch

Mutch

Crystal Palace man Mutch is very much on the fringes of the first team at Selhurst Park, and doesn’t look like getting much game time soon.

Able to play across the midfield or up front, Mutch has experience and ability at Championship level and could be an excellent signing.

A signing of this calibre would be a real boost at the City Ground if it could be done.

Bartosz Kapustka

Polish midfielder Kapustka has failed to put his stamp on the team at the King Power Stadium since making the move to England, and move to the Championship could benefit him.

A short journey to Nottingham could be ideal for the Pole, who would no doubt love nothing more than to get some first team football under his belt.

David Nugent

Middlesbrough striker Nugent is a top player at Championship level, and with Forest needing to add strikers to their team, he would be ideal.

He may not want to leave Boro as it stands, feeling he has something to prove in the Premier League, but a loan move could appeal.

Forest are a big club, and Nugent is a top player, so it could well be a perfect match.
